STOP Dangerous US Mail

I saw this method on how to stop receiving dangerous credit card email offers coming into your mail box. As this can be very dangerous when the applications fall into the wrong hands. People can open new cards in your name, credit identity fraud. This happened to me years ago and it also took years to correct. I was so please to see on the Today Show this morning that there is a telephone number you can call and these types of credit card applications will no longer be sent to you. The number is 1-888-567-8688 this will prevent application being mailed to you for 5 years.

I get these things through my letter box almost every day as junk mail. I shred them up and put them into the recycling box rather then just put them into the bin. Yours is a timely warning hun, too many people don't really think about this.

Thank you very much. I am constantly getting those things. I cut the card up in small pieces. I will call this number so I stop getting these at all. This is good to know.

Interesting, I haven't had credit offers appear in my e-mail before and probably wouldn't thought twice about them, would have gone into my spam folder like all the rest of junk e-mail that I get. However I use to get tons of credit card offers through the US Mail. At first I would put the applications through the paper shredder. I started to get so many though that I started sending them back to the company with a note inside telling them to stop sending me their mailings. It took awhile of doing this, but they eventually stopped. I will keep the number in mind just in case I start getting credit card offers in my e-mail. Thanks for sharing that with us.

This is not email. It is the the US Postal Service - what comes in your home mail box.

Oh opps. When I read the discussion I thought you were talking about e-mail, since you mention it in there. Sorry about that. In any case I haven't received any credit offers since I made it clear awhile back that I didn't wish to be sent these offers. But will keep the number in mind for the future if they do start sending these offers to me again.

This is a really good idea, it amazes me that people can open a false credit card account. I don't get these offers in the mail, I must not be on any mailing lists for a change...lol.

There is far too much junk mail being sent out in the world, I reckon over 75% of the mail I receive is useless and goes straight in the bin, the big problems is that in the U.K. they are now wanting to restrict emptying the rubbish bins ( and are now fining very heavily for putting the wrong rubbish in the bin). One method that can be used in the U.K. is to wright on these enveloppes 'Not at this address - return to Sender' and put it back in the post box.

Thanks Whiteheather for posting this. Identity theft is getting worse all the time. I don't think they should be allowed to send applications out anyway unless someone requests them. I get them all the time.

Thanks for the info.. I get tons of them every month and yes I do know thats a way for ID theft.. I shred them and burn them on our outdoor burn pile along with the leaves and downed tree limbs.. Shred, Shred, Shred...Burn, Burn, Burn.. Make sure nobody gets your info.. Even those stupid things have way more info then I want a stranger to have... Tammy
