I really love my pop so when i started to watch my weight i had to switch to diet pops. I have tryed several different kinds of pops and i tryed diet pepsi and diet coke as well the only thing is these to in particular makes me burp like crazy what makes these two kinds give you so much gas or is it just me. It cant be the sweatner cause the other diet pops dont do that just those two. Anyone got any idea why and does anyone have the same problems?

I hate diet soda. I drink alot of Coke and Dr Pepper. When My father in law was alive, he used to drive me to my doctors apt alot when my husband was at work. He would always stop at the gas station and pick us both up as soda for the three hour drive. One day he purchased me a diet soda of some kind. I did not want to hurt his feelings so I opened it and took a drink and thew up immediately. I really felt bad then. LOL I hate the taste of diet pop

too much acid content in the drinks will make us burp. In my opinion the beverages just have those content in them so if you do not want to have all the burps perhaps you can change your drinks to more healthier ones like juices of natural sources. Or take some alkaline based vitamin C to neutralize the acid we take in our bodies. Good luck in your Diet, I have several discussions on this subject, I hope you can find them and tell me what you think. God Bless

I have a friend who likes pop but doesn't like the carbonation. She opens a can and lets it sit out over night and then drinks it warm and flat the next day. Yuk! (p.s. It's the carbonation that causes the burping and if you drink it from a straw, it's even worse!)

I drink diet soda all the time and haven't noticed this problem. And I havne't noticed any difference between diet and regular soda. You might try to drink the soda more slowly to avoid taking in too much of the carbonatoin at once, or let it sit a minute or two before you drink it so some of the carbonation dissipates.

I don’t drink enough of the Diet soda’s to be able to help- I can’t get past the bitterness taste of them- Plus they pack on a lot of water weight gain. I drink regular Coke- and it makes me burp terrible. I think it is the carbonation. Probably the same with the Diets in that brand. Unsure?

Hi Kat, Yes well I am drinking diet pops as well now due to this is what the doctor told me I could drink as long as they are the ones without sugar added to them for my sugar diabeties. No it is not just you I think that every one burps due to the gas in the drinks.

I'm no expert, but I always thought the gas was produced by the carbonation. But why those two would be different, I don't know. Nearly all carbonated beverages give me gas - and I do enjoy drinking them. The diet cola I prefer is Diet Rite Soda because it has no sodium, no calories, no caffine, and is sweetened with Splenda. I find that Aspertame makes my fibromyalgia worse, so I avoid it.
