I've been thinking about getting a tattoo, but I'm kind of nervous. I had one scheduled but I cancelled it because I got too scared. I've heard some stories about them getting infected, and my one friend, his friends got infected and he had to go to the hospital and he took care of it, also got it done pro. not by a friend or whatever. I also read out of a magazine about a girl, her foot got infected and she had to go to the doctor and her tattoo outline was peeling off, her foot. Her dead skin. That is nasty.. I want to get a tattoo but I'm scared and I dont want something to go wrong... I'm not sure what to do?... What do you guys think about it.

I have always wanted a tattoo since I can remember but was always too nervous because of the fact that it was a needle and I am so afraid of needles but worked up enough courage to finally get one last year . I love it and am glad I got one and want to have more around it to make it appear bigger and would like to do that this summer. Like anything else you run the fear of infection but if you take care of it properly the way they tell you then you have less risk of worrying about infectioin . I made sure to stay out of the sun after I had mine done and put the cream on it that they told me to put on . It is the same thing as if you had cut yourself , you have to make sure it is kept clean and not covered up to prevent infection . You will have to decide if you have the courage to get it done . Like I said it took me many years to have it done and although I like it , not everyone likes tattoo's , so this has to be something that you are doing for you because you want it . For me , my tattoo symbolizes my children which mean so much to me and they were my inspiration , everyone has their own reason for the things they do in life and it is you that will have to decide if you are willing to take the risk as with most decisions we make in life there is some sort of risk involved weather it be in love or getting a tattoo or even growing up and moving away from home . Best of luck in whatever decision you choose .

Thank you. Your totally right. Who knows I guess I'll just get one when I'm ready and what not. Thank you though, for your opinion!!!

I have four tattoos, all my own artwork professional done. I would recommend you go to a qualified professional tattooist, one who wears latex gloves and only uses proper sterile needles. you need to take care of your tattoo while it is healing. Keep it clean and dry, and I use a cocoa butter lotion to keep your skin moisurised while the scabs are healing. Do not, under any circumstances, pick at the healing scabs or scratch at it, that can cause an infection. But if you take care of your tattoo while it heals, then you will have no problems.

there was a time when having a tatoo is synonymous with bikers and bad company. i think times have change. for me personally, i don't like to have my body to have any tattoos, i guess its because of my upbringing. But for others to have tattoos is alright for me as long as its not because of peer pressure. Or just a passing fad. i guess its a different strokes for different folks.
