An Amazing But Strange Story

An online friend of mine & I were listening to this 1970's R&B song that started off as: I ... have never been so much ... in love ... before What a difference ... a true love made in my life ... so nice so right ... (etc.) On the now-dead cashglow site, she sent me a file called 1.mp3 to see if I could identify the song. The file properties did not reveal anything (other than being annoyed by Windows Media Player telling me "Song - by artist" & telling me 128 KB/s). The only thing was, the singer sounded just like Jeffrey Osborne (in which some of his big hits in the 1980's called "On The Wings Of Love" & "Love Power" with Dionne Warwick). I ended up repeated listening to the song & typing out the lyrics the way I heard them. Then I posted them to the cashglow forums, asking if anyone recognized it. Someone else did recognized it & trplied that it was a song titled, "Love Ballad" by L.T.D. Upon further research, I found out why the singing in "Love Ballad" sounded like Jeffrey Osborne. It was because Jeffrey Osborne was the lead singer of L.T.D.

How true about learnign something new every day. In this case, it was that the reason that the singer of "Love Balled" sounded like Jeffrey Osborne was because it WAS Jeffery Osborne.

I am going to try and find some of these songs. It is strange that although I was born in the U.,K a western country I haven't really exposed myself much to western music and I think it is high time I did to understnad and feel what is going on my neck of the woods lol. I always cocooned myself in my own little world. Time to spread those wings.

LOL I was just going to respond that I knew who and what it was! Then I read your post right to the end and realised you already knew. Although I was going to say it was George Benson and "Love Ballad". Are you sure it was Jeffrey Osborne? Although I guess he may well have sung it too of course.

There are several versions of "Love Ballad" that had been recorded & released by different artists since its composition. George Benson was the first to release it, but L.T.D. with Jeffrey Osborne singing lead had the big hit with it. I don't think the other singers/artists did very well with them, but LTD & George Benson are the two commonly known versions. Going off in a tangent here, George Benson also released the original "Greatest Love Of All" except it was Whitney Houston who had the big hit with it.
