Yes, I took the title from the newspaper article, as I thought it most appropiate. Normally I don't write abou war related topics, but I couldn't resist this one. I will summarise. An Australian Infantryman in Iraq, leapt into a blazing vehicle to provide cover for his wounded mates. He was in a 50 vehicle convey hit by light arms fire & rocket propelled hand grenades. A bit firther on they were hit by a remotely controlled roadside bomb. he vehicles drtiver suffered a broken ankle & burnt legs. Two more suffered concussion & minor injurries." As the vehicle exploded into flames and careered off the road into a swamp, the gunner helped his wounded mates onto stretchers before leaping back to his turret to provide covering fire."In doing this he faced two further explosions from remotely controlled bpmbs. He returned the next day to retrieve the damaged vehicle & returned shots in a firestorm with insurgents. The soldier refuses to be named publicly. The full story can be read here: http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,21699617-5006301,00.html Photo attached of the damaged vehicle in the abocve story.

Courage under fire certainly is an appropriate title for this discussion. This guy showed exceptional bravery in his actions. To be in a situation like that, helping his buddies, and then coming back the next day is above and beyond what should be expected of anyone, even military personel.

Something like "Saving Private Ryan"? Yes, we do see such stories of courage from time to time. Give heart that there are at least some decent folks around. :P
