If it is not to far up or down, do take the elevator or stairs?

Elevator - Elevator or stairs

If you need to go up/down three floors and there are steps and elevators, which would you take? I work two floors down from the main floor but usually take the elevator. I should start taking the steps, as it would be good exercise. What do you do?

Hello, ipipe,if i need to wait for the elevators for more than few mintues,i will choose the stairs as it does not make a huge difference if i walk up/down stairs,if the elevator is right there waiting for me,there is no point to walk through the stairs as it will take a longer time.

If it's not too far, I will usually opt for the stairs. It's a good way to get a little extra physical activity out of my day. Usually, if I am in a rush, I will also take the stairs because I can get up those faster than taking the elevator. Of course, if it's far, then I will make sure that I take the elevator cause there's no use in getting tired over it.

I tend to use the elevators up pretty much at all times, down if it's less than 5 floors or something I just take the stairs. It doesn't cost any energy to walk down a stair anyways, gravity does all the work for you.

I would walk ten flights of stairs to avoid the elevator. I am terrified of small spaces. The only time I use it is when I have my daughter, because carrying her and stroller up stairs in not a good idea.

If it's not too far, then I usually try to take the stairs. I like to get in the extra little bit of exercise, and many times it ends up being quicker to take the stairs cause the elevator sometimes takes a long time.

I always take the stairs, unless of course I'm carrying something heavy, which is quite rare, or if I need to climb too many stairs. If it is under three floors, I take the stairs and I never take the elevator if I'm going downstairs. A friend of mine feels very claustrophobic within the confines of the elevator, so always takes the stairs, no matter how many floors he has to climb, so it gets rather difficult, even for me, when I'm accompanying him!

i always prefer a free steps corridor, i have long legs and can go up 2-3 steps at a time, i dont think about exercise and all, its just that i like to do it, and can be as fast as a lift if the corridor is free. so my answer will be steps

Oh I always take the stairs because I really don't like elevators (I take it that's what we call lifts?) and avoid them at all costs. The only time I won't take the stairs is if there's loads of them - I'm talking maybe 10 flights of stairs or something like that. Any less and I'll just struggle up them. Good exercise as well!

I maily use the elevator at the stock exchange as my brokers room is on the forth floor. I rarely use the stairs for this purpose but your suggestion carries weight and i would surely try to move 50% of my visits to stairs rather than an elevator.

If three floors? yes i normally take the elevator by that time but we rarely have elvators anyway at work even if at three floors lols o we take stairs. I seem to remember 3years ago, we have to take the stairs to get to the 7th floor EVERYDAY for 6MONTHS. lol and we were always in a hurry too coz we didnt want to be late. So most of the time, we are panting during the start of that 6months:P Good exercise yeah:)

I always try to use the stairs, it's a good exercise. I always try to stay fit and do exercise between coffee breaks and taking the stairs is the best exercise for me. Though my boyfriend is just too lazy about taking the stair and we sometimes argue. I mean, the elevators in our office are too old and takes forever to get to floors and I always tell him, if we took the stairs, we would have been in the ground floor by now.

If it's only one or two flights I usually take the stairs. I got in the habit of doing that when I worked at a place that only had 1 elevator and you could get stuck waiting for it for more time than it would take to simply use the stairs. And it does sometimes make you feel like you excercised at least a little!
