Has anyone heard of this diet and tried it? I heard about it from a co-worker and she says she wants to try it. I researched the diet on the internet and Beyonce does not advise anyone to use this diet. This is being called a "crash diet," Beyonce used it to lose weight for the "Dreamgirls" movie. It consists of drinking a mixture of water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. This diet is also known as the "Lemonade Diet" and the "Master Cleanser Lemonade Fast" You are not supposed to eat at all. I think this diet sounds dangerous. What do you think about it?

Hi disvachic, yes, the diet does sound dangerous to many of us. I could never do it because I love to eat and plus, I would worry too much about the possible bad effects. From what's been written, Beyonce stayed on this diet for 10 days and lost 20 pounds during the filming of Dreamgirls. Thanks for responding, take care...

I don't think I could do this diet. I just cannot not eat ALL day. My stomach would kill me. It would be rumbling and grumbling the whole day and I would actually feel my stomach acids eat up my intestines. LOL. I think this is not a healthy diet. There are other better diets out there.

I could not do this either. I love to eat and that is the problem. My stomach gives me pains when I need to eat. I can't even stick to a proper diet very well, imagine me on something like this...it would kill me. Thanks for your response natalie1981. You made me laugh with your stomach's description. Take care...

Any diet like that is dangerous. Not eating makes your body start breaking down its fat stores for energy. Then when the fat stores are broken down, your body starts breaking down the musce tissue for energy, which includes all of your organs. I believe this is called Keytosis or Keytonis, something to that effect. Your body can do it too when you are seriously ill.

I understand what you are talking about nigtvamp, I've read something about this process. I will read more on it but you are definately on the right track. Thanks for the info, I am going to look this up, take care...

I heard about that right when dreamgirls came out. I remember she did a lot of interviews about how hard it was for her to lose that weight. And how glad she was when the film was done shooting, so she could finally eat again. I don't think that sounds like a diet, it sounds like ANOREXIA! The maple syrup gives you just enough calories to not be completely exhausted. I bet she was a real bear on set. I know how grouchy I get after skipping a meal or two. That being said, she (well, I think the whole cast) looked GREAT in the movie. I loved the costumes, hair, and make-up.

I loved the movie too prestocaro. It was wonderful. I just wanted to know what everyone thought of the diet. I personally find it to be a scary thing to try. You never know the outcome of things like this. Thanks for responding, take care...

There's a reason why she doesn't advise it and that's because it is very dangerous. She did this under a doctor's supervision to lose weight for her role in Dreamgirls as she wanted to emulate Diana Ross. She needed to lose the weight quickly and this is how she did it, but as you know Beyonce is a healthy looking woman who wouldn't deliberately starve herself and that is why she doesn't endorse doing it. It's best to follow a sensible eating plan if you want to lose weight.

I understand and read that she does not advise others to use this diet. When things like this make it in the media, lots of gullible people will try them. I just wanted to hear other's opinions on the subject. I also wonder why she did not start to lose weight earlier on as opposed to crash dieting? Makes one wonder.

I also think this diet is very unhealthy. When somebody uses this diet, he or she will send his or her body to deprivation mode to which the body will react drastically. There are other effective ways of loosing weight, definitely not this one.

You are so right inday312saylon, it is a shock to the system which can be very dangerous. There are many, many decent diets out here that are safe. Thanks for responding, take care...

Wouldnt we all love to look like Beyonce...but for some reason I do not believe that I would sacrifice my health in this manner to look like her. This diet sounds dangerous and defanatley not healthy at all. What happened to the good old days when watching what you ate and excercising was concidered dieting..lol

Yes, Mamaof2, I would love to have Beyonce's shape too, but like you, I would not jepordize my health just to look fantastic! I guess we are old fashioned with our notions of better eating habits. I do slim down a bit when I stop the bread and sweets that I crave. It's good enough for me. Thanks for responding...take care...

I also have herd it is a very dangerous diet. People have been doing different versions of crash diets for a long time and it is always dangerous. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Sounds more like a cleansing of the body type thing as opposed to a diet. I think its dangerous for the body but since she used it to loose weight for a part (short term) then i suppose its ok (i think!). I'm wondering when she stopped doing it, whether she has started to put it all back on.

That's a good question maddysmommy, does the weight come back after you stop taking the drink. A lot of people are saying it is more of a cleansing than a diet and I tend to agree now because it must really take lots out of you. I read that it can dehydrate you and that is not good. Thanks for responding, take care...

I value your friendship even if we've never met, and I'd say stay away from that my dear. I'd hate to hear it made you sick. I need to loose about 100 pounds and it's hard but I'd never do this. It sounds too harsh. Take care.

Hi Grandmaof2, I too value your friendship, thank you very much. I am not going to try this diet. I read about it online after I heard one of the young girls on the job talking about it. I would never try that! But I told her about my research and asked her to never try it. I told her it was very dangerous. I need to lose a few pounds but I will just try to eat less. I love to eat, that is my problem! Take care and have a Happy Mother's Day! Thanks for responding...

the master cleanse or lemonade diet isnt really so much a diet as a cleanse. although it does mean no eating. i think it is ok for the 10 days and for some 40days but not for me i have tried to do it and only last the morning sometimes till the night then i get scared i'll be hungry and not be able to sleep :). i just like my food to much. maybe one day i will manage it as it is meant to be a very good way of cleansing your system. i found just eating raw foods particularly in a smoothie helps me lose weight and cleanses you pretty well. when i start eating cooked stuff it doesnt take long for it all to come back on. raw doesnt include bread and butter for a start:)

I like the way you think myworld2, raw foods are better to use for cleansing and dieting. It is healthy. I like my veggies and lots of good stuff but I love my bread and butter too, that is my biggest problem. I love to eat. Thanks for responding and take care...

I have heard that there are people who diet, who drink only liquids, but not this particular name. Anyway Beyonce had a reason to go into this, even though it is dangerous. But I personally dont take such unworth risks on my health cos losing weight is not one of my priorities. I need to lose weight some more, may be about 7-10 kgs. But i do it on a very slow pace. That is for the last one year i lost only 10 kds and i look forward to lose the balance 10 kgs during this year. Also, i feel that one mustnt take a risk on the health against a thing like losing weight. This is only my idea and open for negative responses from other friends on myLot.

Thank you sherinek! You have said it correctly. Losing weight is not worth risks to your health. Some people want the fast way out, but in the long run it can be very detrimental to their health. I would never compromise my health with a diet like this. Thanks for responding, wishing you lots of luck with your weight loss. Slow and steady win the race...take care...

Thanks for the information Acts238girl, I appreciate it and will go to the website. My sister did the Weight Watchers diet and so did my Mom years ago. They both lost weight nicely on this diet. I am not looking for a diet, just discussing it because one of the young girls on my job said she was going to try this Beyonce diet. I told her that I researched it and asked her to please not try it. Thanks for your great response, take care...

I know many people including myself, can't drink orange or lemonade juice without eating anything. True that I am skinny already so I don't need a diet at all, but I think Beyonce could always go with better way of slimming herself. Some people go with accupuncture, herbal mix solutions, routine exercise, even even yoga modification. Beyonce sure can afford all that, why go with this spices and lemonade mix without eating?

Hi LittleMel, I know just what you mean about drinking orange or lemonade juice without eating. The acid kills my stomach. Imagine that on an empty stomach with the spicy pepper? It would do me in for sure. Beyonce really should try to do another kind of diet and exercise. That diet sounds dangerous to me. And yes, I would imagine she could afford it. Thanks for responding, take care...
