I am definitely addicted to coffee. I drink at least 7 cups of coffee a day, even when I'm sick. I've tried to go a day or two without it, but I end up not being energized, able to focus, and always have migraines. I can go without eating, but I can't go without coffee. I have to have it as soon as I get up, and still have to have a cup right before bed. So, I would definitely say that I'm addicted.

You seem to be addicted, allright, but compared to many others, 7 cups a day is not that much. If you wish to drink less, you could deminish it very slowly and you will probably not get headace. Why not start with using smaller cups..:o)..he..he..

Muchas grácias!! A little coffee is ok but maybe we should get our energy from good nutrition. To avoid becoming too acid, our body needs alcalic minerals, like calcium and magnesium together with vitamines from vegetables and fruits and cold pressed oils + omega3. Perhaps you can get some good ideas from the links in my profile.

Welcome to myLot, maywong, time to celebrate with a cup of coffee - this is your first response here. Many of us are more or less addicted, maybe we just don´t think about it.

I have heard that coffe makes women sleepy and men alert, who knows if it is true - maybe has something to do with the hormones..:D

No, luckily I never got addicted. I'm not a big coffee drinker, I usually only have it once a week and it's often decaf.

I remember in college I really, really binged on coffee for a 3-day period. After finally going to sleep, I woke up and felt like my whole brain and body had been taken apart and then badly stitched back together with catgut. I couldn't even hear my own thoughts above the throbbing in my head and all my limbs moved in slow motion. So, of course, I drank some more coffee (with aspirin) and it eventually subsided. It's happened to a lesser extent some other times when I stopped coffee all together. I usually have to eat something like plain dry toast to soak up the excess acid to calm my stomach. Now I drink 2-3 cups throughout the day but have little problem if I skip a day. As the saying goes "All things in moderation" but I love coffe and could never stop completely.

Nope, i can go days without coffee and not suffer any side effects. But then again i'm not much of a coffee drinker, i prefer tea. I'm not sure what would happen if i didn't drink tea every day. Probably not a lot! I guess i'd just get thirsty...

Hell yes! I go into withdrawl and start shaking if I don't get enough. I have tried to cut back but that only lasts for a few days.

I think four cups a day would be the limit, at least it is what I have heard. If you drink more, perhaps you want to cut it back but just take it very slowly.

I pretty much need it, especially if I'm writing. At least four cups a day, on weekdays when I can't get coffee at work.

i guess mine is a psychological dependence. i drink one to two cup of ground coffee a day, if i don't have it, i'll get a feeling as if i just missed a live football telecast.

Yes I get a headache; I was in England once for a week and couldn't find good coffee (or coffee similar to mine) so I went a week without it and I practically had headache for 4 days after the first three. I came home and drack 3 or 4 cups in 10 minutes (yep I'm addicted ;) ) and felt better. Maybe it's psycological because I felt better after 2 minutes I drank it...
