i ordered out the other day and payd with my credit card, most restaurants when they deliver you can add a tip to the bill when you sing for it. however this restaurant didn't do that and i had no change to give the dilivery driver a tip. he was very understanding but i still felt bad. what would you do in this situation. i got his name down and told him i'd drop off an envelope for him at the restaurant. i'm heading over today to drop off his tip.

Most people I think would just let it go. You must be a very caring person, which is definitely a good thing! I think it's great that you are driving to the restaurant to give him his tip; there are very few people who would do that. I honestly don't know what I would do....I'd like to think I would do what you did, but I'm not so sure. Maybe if the same guy came back the next time we ordered out I would give him a tip twice as big. Lol.

i'm not sure when i'd order from there again and if i wait too long i might not remember so i like to get things done and out of the way before i gorget. i feel bad not giving a tip and especially since he was really nice and understanding that that makes me want to make the trip to the restaurant to pay him. it's only a five minute drive or so so i'm not really going out of my way.

I would more than likely do the same thing, but I would probably get his home address so I could mail him a tip in the mail. I would be afraid that maybe I wouldn't get by the restaurant to pay him and he may quit before I could make it there. We live 15 miles away from resaurants is why I say that and I hardly ever get into town frequently. If that person gave me great service, I would make sure they got their tip also.

i never thought of asking for his home adress, but i went in around the same time i had ordered food so i figured i'd catch him if he had a regular shift. i did see him and i personally gave it to him and he was shocked i remembered and came back. he was pleased. even though it's just a tip and not that much money, i think the gesture is what shocked him.

What a kind thing for you to do! Most would just let it go and not worry that the young man wasn't tipped. I have not been in that situation as there are no places in this small, crappy town that have delivery! Kudos to you for being so caring!

That was very nice of you. I do not usually have stuff delivered. I like to go and pick stuff up. Where I live there is usually a charge for delivery and I would rather pick up myself. I probably would drop something off as well just because he was so nice about not getting a tip. The other thing is I always have a change jar and if I had to I would give him change. I am sure he will be very happy that you did not forget him.

Although I have never worked in the food industry except for one month in a pizza kitchen, and a couple of semesters in college in the dishroom this is what I think. I think that the delivery driver will feel very good that you remembered him as I am sure that such a job can be thankless at times. It's a testimony to your character for delivering a tip to the restaurant he works at it. Just make sure that he gets it.

I wouldn't really do anything, I mean...if I didn't have any change, it would be a genuine mistake. Yeah I would feel bad for not being able to tip him, but Id probably forget about it within a minute after he left.

wow you are a really caring person and i think most people would just let it go. So its great that ou are going dropping of some tips! I know that he will be glad for i have worked as a waiter one summer and the payment was lousy so every waiter loves the tip he will get.

i think that it is awfully nice of you to get his name and to do whatever you are doing by sending him a tip by an envelope.most of the people would not bother and would just let go of it.when i say most of the people i include myself too.this is awfully nice of you.

I think I'd do the same as you are doing right now....there are a lot of people out there that don't even tip but it's good to know there are some who still do

There is a place here in town that does the same thing so when I order my food I have to tell them what tip I want to leave before hand =) That is really nice of you to go to the restaurant and give him his tip!!!

In my country, giving away tip is not really become a culture..so, most of the time I never encounter this situation before...but I remembered when I visited Boston, US last time...there was one waiter who took my order and during the payment, I was quite surprised when he asked for a tip but then I realized it is normal to give a tip to them..so, I gave him 5 dolar...hehe...and he was just smiling all the way...

that's very kind of you. we're big tippers. i don't know why. i think we just like to help people out. i mean we have no extra money just to hand out, but we know some people only make a few bucks an hour and sometimes depend on those tips. i wonder why that restaurant had no place to add tip, the driver may have grabbed the wrong receipt...who knows, but like you, i would have felt so bad too, no sure if i would have gone down to the restaurant, but most likely i would have. i feel like if i don't feel like going out to get food, then it's a privelege to have delivery services, and so cuz i don't feel like going out, these poor guys have to come to me. so we tip pretty well, and they're always so grateful, i mean, eyes bug out kind of grateful, so to me that means a lot of people don't tip, or give very very very little.
