I was wondering how long y'all have been married? My husband and I have been married 31 years today. It seems like a lifetime in one way and then another it seems only yesterday. We have been through so many things together in these 31 years and have had one another to fall back on. I thank my God for putting us together. My prayer is that I will not take my husband for granted but to cherish each moment we have together. How long have you been married?

Yes, it is true. There is sometimes that we have an argument with our partner. With that, we can know him or her even better than before. Is it right my friends?

Thanks, maddysmommy, yes we have had many ups and downs and my daughter would say ,"Mama, how do you put up with Daddy?" and I am sure my boys have asked their daddy the same things about me? LOL BUT the one thing is that we love one another and vowed to stay together. God has richly blessed us and I pray God to bless your sweet family too.

first of all, CONGRATULATIONS! 31 years is fantastic, as it seems a lot of people don't take marriage very seriously anymore. we've been married for almost 5 years now (i know, we got nothin on you, lol). however, this is both our first and only marriage though. we have a 3 year old, which definitely adds to the mix, and are planning on having more. my parents have been married for 31 years as well, and i look to them as an example of everlasting love. we feel our marriage vows are very important, and take them very seriously. can't wait til we get where you two are! how wonderful! here's to MANY more years together, may God bless you both! thank you for sharing this with us. please have a most pleasant day mamacathie!!

Thank you so much. Yes, this is our only marriage and we did take the vows and marriage very seriously. On the lighter side, I have told my husband that if he ever was going to leave me, give me a few mintues to get my bags packed because I was going with him. LOL I wish the best for you and your husband and your sweet family. God bless you too.

frecklelip, you have exactly the right attitude for a successful marriage. Taking your marriage vows seriously is very important and I think that is the reason so many marriages fail, people don't realize what those vows mean. God Bless, I'm sure you're going to have a long and happy marriage.

thank you to mamacathie and sherry both! mamacathie, i LOVE the "if you're going to leave, let me pack my bags, i'm goin with." that is THE most creative, thoughtful, most fun comments from a wife, i have ever heard! no wonder you two have made it so many years! and you will make it for the rest of your years as well! i wish you the best always! And sherry, thank you for your comment. that is awfully sweet of you. i have so many friends who have been in failed, not one, but two or more marriages. AND WE'RE BARELY GETTING INTO OUR 30's here! it breaks my heart. it's like people in my generation (don't mean to generalize here BUT) don't see it as a priority. or have broken marriages within their family, and that's how they've learned about love and respect, how THEIR parents did things...my parents are still married and i commend them. although my hubby has a major broken family with step sibling, blood siblings, half-siblings, with another divorce on it's way for his side, i'm surprised he is the way he is. maybe it's cuz his family is so broken, he doesn't want that for his OWN family that he creates. he learned from it, whereas others just follow it. you have to break the cycle at some point! and that's what he's doing, and he's proud of that!

Hi mamacathie, Congratulations on your anniversary! Being together for 31 years is really happy and lucky, isn't it? I always wish I can hold his hands till we get old, it's one of the luckiest thing in my life, I suppose. I have been married for only 1 year, just passed my 1st year anniversary. I wish to grow up together with him, and be whom we want to be. May God bless you always! ^_^

Thank you so much kaka. It is such a blessing to hear newly weds like you talk say things like you just said. That is so sweet. Always remember that and know we have to work hard at staying married, it is so much easier to just give up but really hard at time to stay married. Congratulations on your first wedding anniversary! God bless you.

COngratulations :):):):) Myself I have been married over 20 years but I still have a bit to go until I get to 31. I know exactly what you mean about how it feels. If we think in terms of years passing by .. looking at a date it does sound like a long time, but if we just think about it as the time we spend together then if feels like just a bit.

You are exactly right. I was thinking the other night that I have been married and with my husband longer than I was single. That stopped me in my tracks and made me really think and thank God for such a great husband. Thanks for your comments. and Best wishes in your marriage.

Happy Anniversary!! I didn't see this discussion until just a minute ago. I'm so happy for you! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary in December. We have been married 23 years. I love him dearly and I thank the Lord for him also. He is a wonderful father, husband and provider. :)

Yes, I think the older we get the more mellow we get because I think of things now that I used to take for granted. My husband is a great provider too and I don't tell him near enough. Thanks again and God bless you.

Wow, congratulations...31 years! That's really wonderful! It's really most touching, and I am with you there...never to take our husbands for granted. I've been married for 26 years now, and hope to still count on more years. There are indeed lots of blessings to thank God for, especially the gift of being married for sooo long to the same person. I am so happy for you, and may you continue to stay married to each other. Hope too that my marriage will also stand the test of time, just like you did...God bless you...

That was so sweet, those words you just wrote. I thank you so much for them. I wish you and your husband the best, 26 years! That is great too. One thing about when people say marriage is a 50-50. No, marriage is 100-100. Each one has to give 100% every day to make it work. It is hard work but well worth it.

First, congratulsations on your one month marriage. There is no way you can make your wife happy all the time. I don't think any of us can be happy all the time. Just make your wife feel loved, don't forget to tell her how much you love her and how much you appreciate all she does for you. Show her you love her by kissing her goodbye and hello. Tell her you love her. Call her thru the day, if you can, and tell her you love her. You don't have to bring home flowers every day or candy, or any gift, but every now and then is good. Just don't let a day go by that you don't let her know how much you love her and how glad you are to be her husband. I'm here if you have any more questions. God bless you.

We have been married for 3 years and it seems like we have been together forever. In a good way of course. Congrats on a long lasting marriage.

That is so sweet for you to say that. Don't rush into finding you a mate, allow God to direct you. Marriage is way too important to hurry into because it is a life committment. God bless you and thanks for responding.

As i was reading your topic i was thinking of my parents and i became sad because i can feel that their marriage is slowly crumbling apart. They have been married for 28 years and i promised to do something very special when they reach the 30th year since i am the eldest sibling. Now my father is in another province and my mother is at home gambling and we the children are sad of this situation. I am really inspired by how you treat your husband and the marriage it self. Well i myself have been married for 2 years now and i have 2 small kids to be proud of. But i have a problem with my husband, he doesn't like to celebrate anniversaries and i am of course hurt because i feel neglected and just taken for granted. I have talked to him about this and i said why is it you don't take me some place special it was our anniversary for God's sake? He was numb for a second and just smiled.

I don't understand either why your husband doesn't celebrate your anniversary. Maybe he will tell you soon. God bless you and your family. Thanks for responding.
