In the Old Testament we see that God had been interfereing directly with man thriugh prophets. Why such interference is not made by God after Jesus? Can you please explain this?

In the Old Testament God interfered Himself to mankind through prophets because God haven't reveal Himself alone and He let these prophets prepare His coming to the world, which we called the coming of "Messiah". In the new testament God interfere Himself through Jesus, as how God fulfilled His promise, but man has a heart of stone and many still remain to be unbelievers. Since God had interefered Himself directly to mankind through Jesus as He Himself, what will be the role of the next prophets then? Jesus had acomplished what is written in the Holy Book and given us the hint what will happen in the future, therefore I think there is no need for God to interfere Himself to prophets again. If people did not believe in Jesus what more with the prophets?

Here a_ce_c makes the point more clear. The prophets were sent to make the world prepared for God to come to this world as man. Then God came as a man - Jesus. Taught everything needed for man's salvation. Those who have ears hear and those who have syes see. Those who don't listen to the truth given by God directly will not listen to any other prophets and it is needless. Thank you for your response.

You are mistakin. There are prophets among us, but there are also many more false prophets these days than there were before. This cuases us to "shun: anyone claiming to be a messanger, which is essentialy the evil ones plan to begin with. Many have done, and seen miricles. Ones like in the old testiment, but in this day and age, the ones who testify to these things are now mocked and called "crazy" by the general world lost in darkness. God and his methods have not changed, only "man" has. I have seen things that cannot be explained by earthly logic as im sure countless masses have. Yet who would listen in this dark world? Who would hear the real prophets who walk among us? Jesus said that in these days there will be wolves among the flocks, false prophets and so much more. But tthere is also the opposite, there are true apostles, true prophets, true children of God on this earth still, the truth is shrouded in this decaying, sinfull world. We need to open our eyes and be more receptive, we need to "weed" out the false from the true, test everything, only then will you see things as they realy are.

May be I am mistaken. But if God wants to make people hear some thing from his prophets what is the obstacle for that. You are right when you say the general world is lost in the dark. I think God has given us every message through Jesus and no prophrts will be sent to us before his second coming. I accept your advice to open eyes and be more receptive, so as to see the truth. Thank you socorban for your response.

You are a good person. May the Blessings of the lord be upon you in all you do. Those who are willing to humble themselves before the lord and open there eyes and ears will have the veil of this world lifted from before them. I agree in what you say that the word of God cannot be contained by mere men. Though in this day, false prophets walk among us in such great number people have become numb to the message of any who claims such a place. \ Then again, we have to re evaluate what a "prophet" or being one truly means from the bible. While prophecy is a spiritual gift ( one of a few) bestowed on one by our Lord it can fall into a spectrum of authority. Greek: prophetew= speak under inspiration, speak forth the mind and coucil of God. True Prophecy is the God GIVIN ability to proclaim Gods truth in a way that makes it relevent to current situations and to understand and envision how God wants things to change. The goal may be to bring about repentance, correction, or simply enlightenment. Those who are given this gift listen very carefully to God for what God wants them to say. They warn people of immediate, or future consiquences of not accepting Gods undeniable truths. Prophets can see sin or deception that others overlook. They speak to people bringing edification, exhortaion and also consolation. In that aspect i think there are many among us, though they may not have the full authority in the same way as before as moving water and such... or do they?

Hi, I think there were many prophets among us even in our recent history, only that we have failed to recognize them and give their due. For example, we had a Gandhiji, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa and have Nelson Mandela who are prophets on their own right because all of them sweated for a right cause, overcoming many personal barriers and punishments in the process. Moreoever, I think that the honor of being a prophet is always awarded posthumously by the human race, right from jesus to Mohamed. So may be a couple of centuries from now, some of the above might be considered prophet, who knows? Also the problem is, in our allegiance and belief to a particular prophet, we have failed to identify others who came and went by in between, in all these 20 centuries. Ultimately, in today's chaotic world, demons like osama bin laden, bush, saddam, tony blair receive so much media attention and coverage that we don't have the means to even try and look for a prophet. Thanks.

I value your response, still I think you are alittle bit out of topic.Gandhiji, Mother Theressa etc. were not prophets. They were good people, extremely good people, but not God's prophets.

I look at things a bit different then you do, so i will try to answer this and i hope i will be clear. I do not see god as a sort of juman, i mean i do not see him as someone who talks. I do believe that there are prophets today, some are true prophets and some are false prophets. They just have to ability to see things, and we have the difficulity of believing in them because of our unbelief in alote of cases. So yes there are prophets, it is up to us to trace them, and to see who is a true prophet and who is a false one.

That has been stated by somebody else also in this discussion. I don't think the people you refer are prophets sent by God. Theyare preachers of the word. Among them there are genuine preachers and fraud. Thank you for the response.

Yea friend thanks for this discussion. Now the reason why God does doesn't interfere directly with man is very simple. God was interfering with humans through prophets because God wanted someone who is more righeuous in order to make man keep the ten command God gave to Moses- but Jesus knew man could not keep those commandments and God was going to destroy man for his iniquity and Jesus decided to sacrifece Himself to free man from the condemnation coming ahead of him. The sacrifice Jesus made on the cross made every human equal and that is why we don't need to talk to God through prophets. Thanks and have a nice day. God bless you

According Heb.1:1-2 God who at sundry times and in diver manners, spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,..." Jesus is the full and c0omplete revelation of God. So after the 1st century and the completion of the Bible there was no more need of prophets & new revelation.

That's what I heard a pastor preaching. Yes Jesus has revealed every truth about the Kingdom and gave us all guidelines to reach the Kingdom. So no more prophets are required. Thank you for the response

There have been plenty of people in more recent history who have claimed to be prophets of God. They haven't had the benefit of the Bible or history to prove or disprove their claims, however.

Yes that is true. But does the Bible say some thing about that? I heard a pastor telling that God will not interfere anymore as in the Old Testment times, since Jesus has revealed all truth about the Kingdom of God? Is that true?
