There are so many that are so thin and still think they are overweight, but I am talking about healt-wise, are you considered overweight? I am, and I would like to lose at least 50 more pounds. Thru the past few years, I have lost 25+ pounds but I still need to lose more.

I just want to congratulate you on your weight loss! way to go! It is such a hard thing to do. I know. I am overweight myself, and cannot seem to loose any weight at all. Not even after changing most everything about my diet, and working closely with a doctor. My biggest problem is that I cannot excercise due to illness. I hope you achieve the goals you have set for yourself!

yes i am. haven't been able to take it off since i had my son. i was at my best in college. had to walk everywhere, had no car, and made myself walk around a lake that was nearby every morning as well. it's amazing what even walking alone will do, cuz you know i didn't watch what i ate back then. now we still don't eat as healthy as i would like, even healthy food is expensive. we buy a lot of processed foods, which then has the extra fats and sodium. i lose more in the summer, as i drink more water, cut back on the coffee with creamer and sugar, and eat more fresh fruits and veggies, as the heat makes me not want to eat, nor be in the kitchen, so i am making myself do a new routine this summer. i am at my heaviest now, and not happy. it can bring a person down for sure. and i have to lose weight before the doc tells me i have to. they haven't said anything yet, and i'm surprised, cuz according to the BMI's, i'm obese, and that's a DIRTY WORD, i HATE it!! but they probably figure since i'm still "young" i'll take it off. so i need to work on it, as it'll be easier to take it off FOR MYSELF, not cuz the doc told me i HAVE TO! plus i want to lose some before we try to have another child. they did watch my weight during my last pregnancy but i did really well. came in 4 pounds under what they said the max gain should be. BUT i'm 20 lbs heavier than i was then, and it scares me that i'll put on more weight again, and really struggle MORE to get it off then. it's so personal to each individual, everyone's reasons, and feelings on this.

Yes, frecklelip, walking seems to be the best exercise for us and not too strenuous. I agree with you it is so expensive to buy these healthy foods. The heat in the summer truly does make me not so hungry too. yes, this is a very personal subject and all of y'all's comments have helped me in the battle too. Let's try to get more steps and try to eat healthier. God bless you.

there are so many levels to walking. you can include weights, you can walk in place, you can power walk, use a weight belt, all kinds of things. and it makes us sweat and burn calories, (in an aerobic fashion), but not have to be on the floor doing leg raises and such! lol. i'm not good at floor routines. i have a favorite in-home walk routine, there's a website i can send you to, if you're interested. it saved me when i couldn't go out and walk in the winter. PM me if you want more info! i love this lady. she makes you feel like you're right there in conversation with her! very motivating!

Thanks! Do you drink lots of water? I know they say at least 8 glasses a day. One post earlier in this discussion, they said drink half your body weight in water. OH WOW! I dont' think I can drink that much in a day! But I know 8 glasses a day helps. I am trying my hardest to eat more fruits and veggies but I love sweets so much. Keep in touch and let me know how you are coming along. God bless you and thanks for responding.

Yes, i think i am overweight health wise. By that i mean i'm outside/above the band that you are supposed to be in to be your ideal weight for your height. I could do with loosing maybe a stone or two, maybe 25 pounds, and then i'd probably be a lot healthier and much more the sort of weight i should be for my height, I'm trying to do it slowly but surely to avoid putting it back on.

It is so much better to lose slow that way it is easier to keep it off. I see these that lose so fast and they gain it all back as fast or faster. Thanks for responding.

Yes, that aggravates me too. We all just need to lift one another up and encourage each one. I believe with this community of friends that we can help one another lose more weight. Don't give up, drink that water and and walk to get those steps. Thanks for responding.

I am overweight, and I'm trying to work on it right now. I have lost a little bit of weight this summer, but now that it's starting to get cold out again, I have a feeling I will not be losing anymore for a while. I have a really hard time exercising at home. I can't do a lot of the floor exercises because of my back issues. Walking is really the only thing my doctor even wants me to do, but in North Dakota, you can't walk outside during most of the year, because it's just too cold! Especially when you have a toddler. He does enjoy the walks when it's warm enough, though. :) We've been trying to eat healthier lately, but it's hard to do sometimes. Healthy foods are just so expensive! I guess I'm going to have to start working more on portion control. I do drink plenty of water, so at least I have that going for me. :) I have heard that you should drink about an ounce for every 2 pounds you weigh, every day. I think that might be what the other poster meant when she said she drinks half her weight in water, but I'm not sure.

I think am not overweight. I am just 72, and I have been like this for the past three years. I am trying to maintain below 75, and I have never gone beyond 73. Well am talking in terms of kg because we use kg here. In fact, I would be happy if I can keep myself at 70. That would be perfect:-)

Yes most definitely I am overweight. I should be around 155-165 pounds for my height but I am now 194.6 and possibly have put on another two pounds from being away on a 7 day holiday in New Haven. I am trying to lose 50 pounds in total and have lost 12 already. It's a real struggle but I am trying. I don't mind the exercise but i have to get some control on my eating habits as in smaller portions and less fatty foods. Thats the hardest part about losing weight, THE FOOD :)

I am over weight and so is my husband. We are trying to eat better and exercise more. It is hard because fruits, salads and lean meats are more expensive than pasta and cheap meats. WE only have 35.00 a week for groceries and paper products.

I understand what you are saying. It costs so much more to try to eat healthy. IT aggravates me so much. My husband and I are both overweight. He lost 25 pounds too earlier but we both are stuck! LOL Thanks for responding.

I started a program that taught me to realize when I was hungry. Then I only ate when I felt hungry and as soon as I felt the first full feeling I stopped eating. I drank plenty of water and prayed a lot for God to continue to guide me and help- me know when I was feeling full. I kind of gave back into my human desires and quit paying attention to when I was really hungry and only eat then. Thanks for being interested.

I am definately overweight. I'm going to try walking and cutting back on eating sweets. I've tried so many diets and nothing is working anymore. I used to be able to go all day and just eat one meal, but that isn't even working now. So, I guess it's time I really do an exercise routine.

During the time that I lost all the other weight I was learning how to eat right. I was drinking lots of water and getting plenty of exercise. What happened? I guess I got lazy again. yes, we need to do more exercise to help us in more ways than one. Thanks for your response.
