Parents, how would you feel if your child doesn' t look up to?

I would feel terrible if my daughter did not look up to me. I would feel like a failure as a parent if that ever happened. I try to teach her good things and show her nothing but good things in life. I would hate it if she did not respect me as a parent and follow some of my parenting skills when she grew older. It would make me feel really bad if she liked other parents more than she liked her own because I truly try to be a good parent to her.

I think that in this day and age respect for parents is not as it was years ago. Some parents however don't deserve respect though. And those that get respect for all the wrong reasons don't deserve it. I would liek to think my 4 year old daughter respects me and if she does not in the future I would look at myself and wonder if it is I that has done anything wrong. If my daughter did not respect me I would be heartbroken as to me she is my world and I would like to think I have made many sacrifices for her out of pure love an dadmiration. I think the least we can expect as good parents from our children is respect and for them to look up to us.
