If you knew that the company you worked for did something very wrong and criminal and it's top level and you had proof, would you turn it over to the police? If you knew it would probably mean the destruction of the company and you losing your job?! Or could you just live with it?

I think I would have to say something about it. It would be on my mind all the time and to know that they may have gotten away with whatever criminal thing is just wrong. I could always go find another job.

This is a very sensitive question and you have to weigh pros and cons of the same and the consequences thereof. Since the people involved are of top level they would have lot of influence in many important departments/ ministries and therefore it would be a very challenging task. They would invariably try to take revenge. You must discuss these issues with your elders and well wishers before taking any concrete steps in this matter.

It was just a theoretical question :-) I'm pretty much at the top of my department, and nothing 'illegal' is going on ;-)

I would report it if I had proof because in the long run you would probably look better to other companies

I think I would...because it would be the right thing to do. I believe that if you do the right thing, the rest will fall into place. You can get another job.
