there should be emergency food stations stocked at all times within so many miles of each other? dont you think that more emergency shelters should have been created in every state? how do you feel about more of the people asking our political canidates some of these questions?

This question was answered 50 years ago. It was the person's responsibility to stock food, water, clothing and medicines...not the state. Many people went so far to build bomb shelters in their homes. Complete with generators, air shafts, and beds. Most have been torn down or converted. The new generation doesn't remember that we were faced with total annihilation during the cold war and nuclear bombs! Yes, communities had shelters, but the rules that were posted (still there in the hometown) mentioned this was a temporary shelter and each person was responsible for themselves!

I think that alot of people will never do the stocking. I also think that if we were to have an attack....especialy after seeing the louisiana siituation....that maybe we need to do more...since so many arent going too...and im wondering if permanent shelters wouldnt be such a bad idea???

I guess it would depend on the situation. For me, I have a natural distrust in trusting the government with important things like that. I'd rather be in control of what I have. Your right, most probably won't take care of themselves, but then again, does the government have to take care of everyone even if they have the means of taking care of themselves?

I definitely think it would be a great idea if they had more emergency food stations and shelters for emergencies. Some places get too crowded when something bad happens and people always get left out. With the growing population, they will need to make shelters. With the increasing numbers of illegal immigrants there is more of a need to have more food stations.

I would imagine that it would make perfect sense to have emergency food for at least three months. Foods such as powered milk, tinned & canned food, water purifying tablets, soap, toilet paper, etc. Also basic medical supplies would be a good move also. These emergency supplies should be located in reasonable distance for most people to access.

Those might be grand ideas. Who is going to pay for all that? It would cost $$billions to build thousands of supply stations and stock them with food an supplies. And what about the food going bad after a while? Can you imagine the extra government employees required to administer this plan? It would end up im mass confusion and a total waste of money. Also, you would have to guard each shelter with some type of guards to keep people from stealing the food and supplies.
