I see a lot of new discussions.. ONE LINERS!!!!

One Liners - Thought this would help people understand what my discussion is about

When I go in to the discussions, people write one sentence. Am I the only one that thinks this is a waste of time to even respond to? Why can't people ask a question and then state their opinion or why they are wanting to know about this? I see a lot from the same person and it's just weird. Do you even take the time to respond to them? I won't point out anyone in particular but here is an example Discussion Subject: Love Discussion Details: Do you believe in it?Now- can't people come up with more to say? I know it only affects their ratings and they won't be making a lot of money off of it, but dang, it drives me nuts. Come on, there are many of us who can write a novel or a book and share more interesting things within a discussions. Are some people just lazy and trying to get their post count up? UGHHHH.. What are your thoughts about seeing one liners in here? Is it worth your time to sit there and try to come up with something to write about when there isn't much to begin with?

Well, for me it did not bother me unless the topic is weird and not interesting. I like to response a certain question that i feel i am comfortable to answer. Also i like to answer topic discussions that came from my friends.

This is annoying indeed. Most of them think that this is the way to get a lot of money right now. Do you love life? Do you drink Coffee?Do you believe in God?Do you like music?...and etc.You can see at least 10 discussions and at last you are so tired that just stare at the page with new discussions hoping to see something different...no chance:-( I know a user who posts at least 10-15 discussions every day. And he never replies to theese people, he never replies to other discussions too. He is here just to put his daily number discussion and usually they are easy, so some people reply. And in fact this is no conversation, this is monolog...:-(

Yeah.. It's horrible around here lately with the new ones. I really try my best to respond to all my discussions. It may take me a few days but I get them done. Sometimes I let them go for a few days and then respond to them all at once. There are other days that I will respond as quickly as they have responded. It just all depends. I am glad I am not the only one who thinks this stuff is annoying and they sure don't get + from me. But you do!!! :)

It kinds put me off either when someone asks a very shiort question and doesn't bother to elaborate or add their own oppinion, but also when someone write a huge, massive long chunk of text with no spaces or anything! Usually though i'm more interested in finding something that actually interests me!

I really don't respond to one liner discussions. I believe that most likely they will be deleted sooner or later. It is just a waste of time. If they are new they probably just might not understand the concept here. But I have seen one person with 2,000 points that does this repeatedly so I don't know how that one person has been getting away with it for this long.

You are right, many probably do not know the concept or have a clue how this place really works. :)

When I first started here on mylot I read a discussion that said that you were surpose to report one liners because it is against the guidelines. I admit that I haven't taken the time to report anyone but I have avoided responding to these discussions. Their just going to be deleted anyway so why waste my time. You earn more money if you put more effort into what your doing. A one liner isn't going to get them what they are wanting. I try to make sure that I write atleast a paragraph or two.

Same here. I will report them if I have time or they are one word disucssions, yes I've seen those as well, but normally I just avoid answering them. Why bother if they are just going to be deleted?

I don't waste my time responding to discussions like that. I figure they will get deleted sooner or later. Plus, I figure that if their not going to put any effort into starting the discussion why should I put an effort in to respond to the discussion either. It annoys me to see a bunch of one liners in a row also. As if they think that they are going to make a killing by starting a bunch of discussions that no one can trully respond to.

You are right. I also think that some of the people who say they are getting their #'s decreased are probably because they are responding to these post and then when the post get deleted, their post count goes down. Ya think? Thanks for sharing.

As a couple of others have pointed out the one liners, either in discussions or responses, are against the guidelines. I usually just ignore them. It's a shame though that some of these will be flooded through the discussions with no responses making it difficult to find the quality discussions. I like to answer to ones that give me something to respond to. A one word or one line discussion doesn't give you much to go on and just seems to encourage one word or one line responses.

I agree that it's a shame that we can't find the good discussions because they are burried in the middle of junky one liners.

I think its okay sometimes if it is a serious question. I think I may have asked a one liner myself at some point. I'mm not sure I would have to go back and check. I think a one liner wold be okay if it is serious and the person really doesn't have an opinion just yet and would like soe feedback. I think its okay if the one liner is on a popular subject that will have a bunch of response. I've seen a few of those. The love person may have been serious. She/he may be having a dilema on love. For example he/she may not know how to express it. Or she/he may be having doubts about her love. This person needs feedback. It could also very likely be that this person may simple not understand mylot very well and think its a quick get rich place. Either way...don't be so quick to judge. If it upsets you just skip over it. Thats the beauty of this site. There is room for great topics and dumb topics.

Never thought of it that way. Thanks for opening up my eyes to see the other person's point of view. Trust me though, I am not judging, just going on the my lot guidelines as it's against the rules.

You're welcome. And sorry for all the typos. I must have been typing really fast. Thanks for opening my eyes. I'll make sure not to post any one liners in the future.

They do bother me at times, but I think that at times it allows us (the reader) to make the discussion from a simple oneliner question. I can usually come up with a few lines for these anyway. There is always a reason that they ask that kind of question and I do believe that sometimes it is just to get the number of posts up. However, I also think that some users on here know very little English and that they will only post with what they know. If that is the case, then I understand why they are like that. Anyway, for those who don't like to answer those kinds of questions, they can skip those and find plenty of other discussions.

I know what you mean about the one lines, without any discussions. I usually can't even come up with a discussion, so I generally just respond to discussions already started. I may come up with one, and then see someone has already started a discussion on that topic, so I will respond to that one instead of starting another discussion about it.

Yeah, I don't start that many post. I think I have responded way more than I have start discussions.

yes, i truly know your point sometimes people intend to ask a question then wait for an answer. i admit sometimes i had a one liner question posted here in mylot. then i figured out it lacked opinions that make people want to respond to my discussion then i continued to make longer ones and reply even longer than that of the posted discussions. i see your opinion clearly and rated your discussion. i see that your point is as vivid as it may be. Nice post my friend!

It happens. Some people just don't feel that a huge paragraph is needed one line, could be it.. Of course, it could also be laziness.. or could be language.. Hey who knows.. Not all of us could write a book or novel..

Yes, but if they can't write more than 1 sentence, they shouldn't be starting discussions. My lot has rules and people should follow them. Just my .02 worth!

I may have instant thoughts about a post, but then I have to stop and think about it. Since I can't read minds, I tell myself that I must remember there could be different reasons for this. Maybe their English isn't very good, or they're brand new to discussions and are just getting their feet wet. Maybe they are unsure as to how to start a good discussion. I'm sure there are some people who are just trying to make money quickly and aren't making a good effort. I guess I'm just not one to judge others as long as it doesn't affect me personally.

That's stupid. Just because it's a one liner it doesn't mean that it's a bad discussion much less a waste of time. This isn't a one liner discussion yet it's a bad one and a waste of time for me to respond to I just wanted you to hear what I had to say. This is just what I think.

i think you can ask a question that doesn't require you to write 25 sentences. you can put all you need to know in a sentence. people can reply in detail to that one sentence post. i would not answer post that require one word answers.

True. One liners to me are ones that just have 1-2 words. I totally understand that you can answer a question in all of about 1 sentence. So true on that.

Well, yes they are a bit disturbing. Well, we have to accept and face the fact that some people came here for the money, mostly and do not mind whether they are talking nonsense or not. I have seen a lot of those discussions and most are newbies. Well, it's not our problem anymore. :) No matter how many posts those people make, they would soon realize that they are not making money out of what they are doing. It just irritates me when I read some discussions complainig about their earnings and never realize that the problem is the content of their posts. Anyway, let's not mind them. Let's just continue with the good quality posts and discussions. :) Have a nice day dear.

Me also when i post a discussion then the people who respond to my discussion for only one sentence i just ignore it.I am not usually response to the short discussions.I do reply with a minimum of three sentences because i know it will affects my earnings and ratings so i try hard to share more my ideas and views about the topic.

report them, it's against mylot rules, this is under the don'ts for posting discussions ;) "Start meaningless discussions or give meaningless responses to try and boost your rating. Discussions like “What’s your age” will be deleted as well as short responses like “ok” or “no”. "
