Why Won't the Pelosi/Reid Congress Do Things They CAN Do?

For years we have heard the Democrats in the House and the Senate talk about what they would have done if they were in power. They said they would run audits on the war funds and Hurricane Katrina. There are a lot of things they have the Constitutional authority to do, but instead, they run an endless witchhunt, trumping up stupid investigations against people who aren't even in the Legislative branch. When will Congress start doing their jobs, instead of spitting on the U.S. Constitution?

This is not really a new thing. They talk and point fingers, they complain and criticize, they say we can do it better, or we will do this, and then when the time comes...they choke. For all of their talk and criticisms, when the time came to deliver on their promises...the promises were empty. They had no plan, so they investigate. Their only chance is to keep the investigations going in order to make the Bush Administration appear to be unethical and dishonest. They have to keep the pressure on with the troop funding in order to maintain the appearance that they are against the war in Iraq, while at the same time trying to paint Bush as inflexable and out of touch. The republicans stand to lose a lot if they are viewed that way also. This is the way that the democrats hope to maintain their majority in Congress and also to win the presidency. This is nothing more than political gamesmanship on the part of the democrats. As has been pointed out earlier, if they were serious about wanting out of Iraq, all they have to do is defund the war. They didn't.

Exactly! They would rather play games to gain "power" than be adults and lead.

I think one of the biggest reasons is that the DNC knows most people don't want Congress to spend all of its times launching this investigation and that investigation. On the flip side of the coin, Pelosi and Reid can't seem to get any funding passed, or agree on what to try and pass, so I am not sure exactly how much of their job they can do. As far as when will they stop spitting on the Constitution, I don't think they will ever stop that. Democrats like Pelosi and Reid don't really like our Constitution, so how could they stop spitting on it? --Andy http://politicalfriends.blogspot.com

That's the thing, they are launching one investigation after another, for no other reason than to trump up accusations against the Bush administration. They do, however, have the authority to audit the funds used for the war and other programs. They used to say that's what they want, but now they don't seem to care. They say they don't want to give Prs. Bush a blank check, well, the truth is, they never had to in the first place.
