The day started so nicely too. I made my first real latte, found out I am FINALLY getting DSL on the first YAY!! Finally got to chat with my grandma online which I haven't been able to do in forever. And I was writing a nice long in depth article for Assoicated Content. Just finished spell checking it, was about to submit, and I lost power. 2 hours of work over 6000 words gone just like that. And since I had already gotten the house clean i had nothing to do so I decided that since I was out of power and it was sunny, I would try to get some sun. I get out there get my chair out and it get cloudy. ok fine I decide to sit out there and read anyway. I grab my towel and my sunglasses are on the porch. The cat knocks them off and one of the lenses pops out. and I break the frame trying to get it back in. Wonderful. I took my cell out with me so i could set an alarm so I wasn't on one side too long. It died. and of course I had no power so I couldn't plug it back in. Then when the power came back on I went in the bedroom to change and get my glasses so I could see and apperantly the cat knocked them off the dresser and onto the floor. I stepped on them and broke one side. and all of this happend in a space of a couple of hours. Now that the power is back on I am going to try agian to write my article, and hopefully (cross your fingers) nothing will go wrong this time. If it does I am just going back to bed, covering my head with a pillow and hiding there till tomorrow.

I hate when you have days like that, that I like to refer to as "murphy's law days." I been there, I feel for you and really it has to start get better eventually because it just can't get that much worse. Erilyn, for the love of Jebus (save me Jebus) save your work early and often. I can't believe you went through a 6000 word article and never saved it! Geez. BTW, go buy a UPS. You can get them for under $50, and if you lose power again, you will have plenty of time to save your work and shut everything down.

I wish I could have! I didn't have the ablity to save it though. I usually write everything in word and then port it over. However we just reformatted the computer this weekend, and I have been downloading office for the last few days.(I hate dial up) I don't want to buy another copy and I can't find my discs. So I thought this one time I can write everything directly in AC and be fine. Of course that isn't the way it worked out for me unfortuantly. When I am writing I usually save after every paragraph. I had a bunch of stuff typed out and ready to port over(I don't know why I hadn't already done it, call it writers issues.) when we had to reformat because of a virus. I at least had already uploaded my photos to my yahoo, so those were safe.

I have told my fiance that we need to get one for the desk top. Had I been on my laptop it wouldn't have even been an issue. My daughter needed it however for a school project. We haven't had any problems since the reformat, and I am hoping we continue to not have issues. To be honest I think part, if not the entire problem, had to do with Mcaffee. It had invaded most of the systems and we couldn't get rid of it. But of course my fiance doesn't think that was the case. He doesn't believe that Macaffee could have caused the issue. When I was working for AOL, I had a lot of people call because of issues with either macaffee or norton. For some reason it seems if you decide not to renew either of these it all goes kerflooy. My day was going better till I lost the phone. Phone Lines were out all day long yesterday. I can't seem to win for losing.

That makes a little more sense. It seemed way out of character for you not to save your work. Murphy's law totally, the one time you type directly into the article section you have a power outage. That just blows, again I'm sorry. Seriously though, look into in a uninteruptable power supply (UPS) they are cheap and worth it. Regarding your virus issue. Be very careful because reformats often do not get rid of the virus. Most viruses right themselves into boot sectors (which don't get overwritted in reformat) or to memory. I would suggest getting AVG antivirus as it's pretty good and free. AVG also auto updates. By the way, I hope today was better for you then yesterday.

Sorry your day has been so bad. I've had days like that where I just can't wait until the day is over. Sounds like one of those days for you too. I'm actually having a pretty good day. My son was sick so I couldn't babysit the other kids that I usually watch today so I've gotten laundry done, sheets washed, dishes washed (in the dishwasher), and several other things done. But I hope your day gets better and hopefully you'll have a better one tomorrow.

Thank you that's what I am hoping for too. I think the only thing that would have made it worse is if I had to deal with my 14 year old telling me how bored she was lol.
