Hey I'm wondering where you worked when you were 15/16 years old because I am currently trying to find some place I would like to work at this summer. So where did you work when you were in this age area, and did you enjoy your work?

I worked at the St. Louis Zoo. I worked in the concesion stands. It was fun. Made a lot of friends. And it was a summer job from the time school was out till back in. You could work weekends during school, but it was too far away for that.

How flexible was it? Like was it an everyday thing or just like 2 or 3 days a week?

I mean I worked five days a week. I knew people who worked less. They were pretty flexible especially with people having vacations and what not. Plus our Zoo stayed open till 8pm and opened at 9am, so some people would work 8 hours and some would only work from like 4pm till 8pm.

I was lucky in that my parents had a small business and I was able to help them. My daughter is now 16 and has been trying all year to get her first job. She would like to work in one of the shops that sells clothes she likes so that she can get a staff discount. She was happy recently to at last get accepted to work in the chemist in our local shopping Mall. Do you have any retail outlets that you could try? Several of her friends seem to work in pubs but I don't know if you would be old enough where you live to do this. Good luck with your job hunting.

Thanks for your input. Sadly my parents don't have a business.

Yeah, I thought probably not. I was very lucky and did not realise it. Well done for looking for a job and not just scrounging.

When i was 16 i got a job at Wok Spirit, which was a chinese food takeout place. They had a call center where people called in their orders from all different cities and then we'd dispatch the order out to the right restaurant. If you are a teenager, I would suggest food or retail, that's where most people have their first jobs when they are teenagers. maybe even a gas station or convenience store?

When I was that age, I worked at an amusement park in Utah called, "Lagoon". I had a great time all 3 summers I worked there. I worked the food services two summers and the arcade one summer. That was the year we got our first PONG game. :~D

There's not a single amusement park in my city. That's about the only thing we don't have, other than a natural lake.

I worked in a pizzeria/steakhouse as a gofer/cooks helper/dishwasher. I enjoyed it, it got me out of the house and I got free pizza and made some money as well.

There is a pizza place by my house I've also looked into applying at, but I'm pretty sure they hire 16 up.

Oh my I haven;t thought about that age in a long time. I worked at a restaurant in the local mall through high school. Not a typical restaurant, more like a grill. Our speciality was hot dogs, fixed many different ways. SO I grew up as a weiner slinger. lol

At that age I had three jobs. All were great. I had a job in the horticulture business, the work was good, the pay was decent and the bosses were ok, I learned a lot. Then I sold lottery tickets. This was ok, too. Then I worked at the horses race track as an employee for the betting. This was a very interesting job that payed me very good.
