I think the rest of the world has been seeing higher prices for a long time....the craziness here is that fact that the prices are rising so fast. I have seen 10 cent price increases per gallon within 48 hours. We are being gouged by the oil companies. They have added no refining capacity in about 30 years, demand goes up, shortage of gas, they increase prices - who wins - the oil companies. A refinery goes down to change formulas - there is a shortage of gas, they increase prices - who wins - the oil companies. A refinery breaks down, does not get fixed resulting in a shortage of gas, they increase the prices - who wins - the oil companies. Did you notice a pattern here...the oil companies always win.

Actually, I think North American may have some of the lowest gas prices! My friends in Haiti tell me it is over $7.00 a gallon there! I'll be interested to see what others from different countries respond here.

It's funny that us Americans complain so much when really other countries pay something like 3 times more than us anyways... Pretty ironic huh?

I think it's because we are sooooooo dependent upon our cars and motor vehicles that to us it's a huge thing.

I live here in the states also- I know it is out of hand here in the states- I cringe every time my needle moves closer to Empty! I can’t believe the gas prices- and here in NY the tax on gas is so high also! I can’t answer for the rest of the world- but something has to give here- How do we make them lower prices? What is causing the increase is gas prices? I hear it will be up to $4.00/gallon by summer- It’s $3.17 now where I live- I’m trying to find ways to drive less!

It's just crazy in North America. I live down here in Puerto Rico which is part of the US but gas here is only $1.57 per gallon.

The price of gas here in the Philippines are so high. It could've been okay if only we didn't have so much traffic.

It seems to be high all over the oil companies are making astronomically high profits and we have to take what they dish out because we need the gas.

Ibiza - Not a gas guzzler!
Here in Germany I pay for a litre of gasoline (which is rughly 1/4 gallon) 1.40 Euro. 1.40 Euro is about 2 dollars. It means 8 dollars per gallon. We do many things to save on gas. Most people drive smaller cars. Why do you complain if you drive SUV in the USA? The price of gas is the way it is for ages. We have to put up with it and bend accordingly.
