Why Made You Choose Your Avatar?

When I noticed people's avatars when I first came on the site, it took me ages to get one that I really liked, and then on a websearch, I found this rider on a horse carrying a light. But it didn't appear to me like he was carrying the light at first, it was more to do with the fact that he seemed to be riding after the light that appeared to refect on his lance as he rode into the distance.
I really felt that that meant to me that it's the journey, not the destination that I need to concentrate on in this life. His ride is constant, just as he seems to get into the light, it move ons and he is after again...
I don't know whether I have put this discussion in the right place or not, but it seems philosophical. Please share what made you choose your avatar? Are you planning to change it in the future?

Hello derek, as you have noticed mine that from time to time I often changed my avatar into new ones...but this colored stars avatar that i'm using now gets my attention really, and just to see it makes me think and reflect how wonderful and colorful life must be when all of us would do our best to make one life's difference and help one another to make this world a worth living for.

Thanks for your response. You seem to think in a similar way to me, wanting your avatar to mean something. I often like to just focus on a picture or an object that I am attracted to. At first there isn't much in my mind at all, just a stillness, then suddenly that object starts to have meaning. :-)

I picked my avatar because l liked the colors. I'm looking for a new one because l'm not really happy with it. Do you know of any good places to find a new one?

I think your Avatar reflects one's state of mind. Growth is a natural process and this is reflected in wanting to change one's Avatar, as one's state of mind set changes. I agree that the Avatar reflects who or what you are feeling and thinking about. It is the idealisation of oneself. The image one wants to present to life.

I use this picture on my blog and on myspace so I use it on mylot too in case anyone recognises me from any of those sites. I might change it if I find a better picture though do like to have a picture of myself as my avatar. I put other pictures I like under the appropriate interests on mylot and in my profile.

For me, I chose my to fit my username.
My avatar shows a wizard figure so I think it suits me quite well.
I know some people like to put pictures of their loved ones, or their favorite pets or sceneries.
I just feel that I choose choose something that reflects my username. ;-)

I have the same avatar that I started with. The flowers on my avatar are flowere that my husband gave me. I took the picture and loved it. When I see my avatar it makes me think of my husband and that makes me happy. I may change it sometime, but I'm not sure to what or when I would change it. What do you think?

I think it is nice to see what a user looks like, and many people just use their own picture. Maybe I will use mine one day, but I put the galloping knight up there because I thought it would make a change. You can get free avataros from here - http://www.blifaloo.com/free/avatars.php

My avatar is a blue dragon curled protectively around the earth. I love dragons so it seemed the most logical avatar to chose. The fact that the dragon is protecting the earth reflects my belief that the earth is our mother and we should all protect her.

My avatar holds significant meaning to me. It's a bit of an inside thing between me and my significant other. I doubt that I'll change it, because every time that I see it, I think of him, and I think of all of the little jokes we've shared. I didn't always have this avatar, though. When I first started posting on myLot, I had a red rose, with red dragon wings on the stem.
