My Thoughts...

Associated has certainly lowered what they offer up front for articles, that being said, they still aren't a terrible site. My thought is this...I write an article for Helium (if you'd like a referral link, please PM me) and make a few bucks there then you go non-exclusive at Associated and make a few bucks. You promote it and make a little more with page views...All in all, not a bad rap. Check mine out and I will do the same. http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/56310/karen_meeker.html

I tired Helium and am a little confused about how the payments work. I submitted one piece and didn't receive any pay . . . so I wonder if I might have done something wrong?? I really like writing for Associated Content and plan to revisit the site soon . . . writer's block has been taking over my life, it seems. I did a considerable amount of writing for them when I started and made good money. So, now I need to solve this writer's block problem. :)

Helium pays by pageviews only, and they don't payout until your account reaches $25. Sometimes it takes a while to even get that first penny. You won't make a lot writing for Helium, but it can be some nice little bonus money in your pocket. The more you write though, the more you'll earn. Make sure to rate other articles so that yours will go into the queue to be rated -- if your articles get rated high enough, like in the top 5, they'll get a lot more hits than if they stay near the middle or bottom of the ratings.

You've got some interesting articles. Only one of mine was published before the page view bonus started, and it got one of the highest offers I've had. None of them have been very high, but it's certainly better than nothing. http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/49111/alicia_suenaga.html

When you are on Helium, do you choose your own topics or write for the contest? It seems like Helium articles are generally much shorter, but they could always be expanded from their original size at Helium for Associated Content publication. Great idea. You can find me at AC: http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/25660/christine_zibas.html

I do both. I have won on the contests, so I do enjoy them, but sometimes I just want to write about what I want to write about....

Thanks for the best response. Here it is, 4 months later and I am revisiting this conversation (cleaning out the email box), but it did give me an excuse to go on over to AC and read one of your articles. I started a blog since this conversation, and haven't published as much over at AC as I should. Looks like you've taken some time away from there as well. So many demands on our time, huh? Anyway, here's a shout across the cyberworld.

I have done that a few times, writing something for Helium and then posting on AC as well. Most of the time I just write for AC, because I don't like Helium's system of searching for a headline and writing for it... I've submitted my own headline a few times, but that takes too long. But it is a nice way to make the most out of your work.
