I used to be a lot more active on Gather, and then I just kind of slacked off and focused on writing for Associated Content and Helium instead. Every now and then I go over and check things out, particularly because I have a book review group, and some faithful posters.
I do like the site, and I find that there are some thoughtful people over there, too, who really write some interesting art... |

I feel the same way. I am creeping slowly toward my goal, but it does seem like it takes forever to get anywhere these days at Gather. I think a lot of folks (including myself) have slacked off from Gather since the points drop. I noticed that they didn't have the photography contest this summer like in other years. I guess it's all a belt-tightening so that they can hang on through the bad eco... |

You should go on back to Gather (the points have dropped, and most folks are having a challenge earning them), but there are some wonderful chefs on there. Even some cookbook writers. I have to admit my own participation at Gather has dropped off considerably, but they are taking a cautious approach, trying to hang in through bad economic times (unlike Boomertown!).[em]happy[/em][em]happy[/... |

That's really the best way to do it...taking articles that (hopefully) you got upfront payment for and transferring them to Helium. Unfortunately, I am doing the reverse because I find it easier to use Helium's titles when writing. I was doing Calls for Content these past several weeks at AC, but it takes so long to research, even when I have traveled to the place or know a certain kind of wine... |

I have to laugh because I do exactly the same thing. If one person floods my Twitter page, out they go as a "friend." Most of the time, they are tweeting about contests...did you notice that? Anyway, I am about where you are with Twitter. I still try and go over there occasionally, but I can't really demonstrate any tangible benefits.[em]happy[/em][em]happy[/em][em]happy[/em] |

I've signed up for Triond, but never written there. Maybe I should explore that site for awhile. Do you like it? Helium can be frustrating because of the rating star system, but if you look beyond that, you can make some money there. I usually make payout every other month without too much trouble.[em]happy[/em][em]happy[/em][em]happy[/em] |

Of course, I never figured out how to earn at Helium until quite awhile after having joined the site. Still, it does seem that the process of having your articles accepted (or these days at AC, rejected) seems to slow down the whole writing format. I think the folks at AC don't really want to pay people for upfront articles, except maybe a few that they choose. They'd prefer it if everyone just... |

Boredom is another factor. I guess it is an internal balance, switching between sites. I keep telling myself I am going to try a new site (like Triond) instead of just going between Helium and AC, but I never do. I started with HubPages, but that seemed like so much work to set everything up, and then you need at least 3 of those pages to start earning cash. Yowsa...in all that time I could hav... |

Wise words, Canellita! I think I have found (well, at least for the moment) what satisfies my writing craving and helps keep the craziness at bay. I am trying to jst use Associated Content for reposting articles I have already written. That way, I don't stress myself out. If I make any extra money, great.
I thought maybe doing the Calls for Content was the solution, and I did make money that... |
