I love my cat, but why does she love to play in the tub?

I have to keep the shower doors closed or she will jump in and just roll around and slide around. She has a blast playing in the tub. It's hard to get her out of the tub. I have to pick her up to get her out. Since this is my first cat, I was wondering if anybody elses cat does this. And why do they do this when they hate water so much?

That is too funny. My cat Nemo loves to lay in the wet tub when it's hot. The funniest of my cats is Vixie. When I am taking a shower in the mornings, I'll look down and here's this dripping wet black and white furball next to me playing in the water. I have only a shower curtain, so there's no keeping my cats out. LOL

LOL, now there is a video link you should post here! You and your cats in the shower!...LOL...Well, at least you have company with you. Sometimes cats are just like toddlers! At least take a picture of the wet furball for all of us to enjoy!

My cat is just the same...she loves to be in the tub...I think part of it is that they are so curious, and this is what I like about cats...

Your cat's attitude seems natural. My cat doesn't jump in the bath tub, she prefers the sink.lol! She likes to spend hours and hours in the sink, that sometimes if I wanted to wash my hands I would have to go to the bathroom as she wouldn't move.
I think their attitude has something to do with the smooth feeling the tub and sink, or maybe its because it's cooler there. In any case, I just let her be.

No clue, Sodapop. My cats bang on the shower doors, begging to get in. If they can take a toy with them, then they're in heaven.
My cats have also learned to drink from the faucet, so sometimes they go in there for a private drink. I've gotten icked out though, when I saw my cat going for the old bathwater!
Bleh!

I don't bother to try keeping my cats out of the tub. They get in and play and drink from the dripping faucet. My tuxedo cat even plays with a tiny rubber ducky. He bats it around the dry bathtub and if it's floating in water he will push it around. Sometimes they will take a superball in the tub and bat it around (usually late at night, LOL).

One of my cats will do this as well. He loves to jump into the tub and just roll about in it and when I go to see what he's up to, he'll just lie there with his feet in the air looking at me in a "What's up Doc?" kind of way. :-)

My cat loves to play in the bathtub or in the shower curtain...and she doesn't care if the tub is wet or dry. If it's dry, she'll knock my loofah into the tub and bat it around. If it's wet, she'll splash in the water. When I take a shower, she hides in the curtain. When I take a bath, she sits of the edge of the tub and stirs my bath water with her tail. I think she really just has to do everything we do...

one of mine always runs in after somebody takes a shower to play with the "puddles".
i think maybe they like the cold surface, especially if it's warm outside.

Mine will try and take a shower with me and if it's a bubble bath night she will sit on the edge of the tub playing in the water and the bubbles. Afterwards, when the water is all gone she will jump in and roll around and play in the bubbles that are left over. I just leave her be but keep an eye on her but she has so much fun doing it that I won't stop her.
