Has anyone borrowed your stuff and did not return it?

Don't you just hate it when a person borrowed your stuff and "forgot" to return it? This has happened to me countless times it is very irritating. Especially when the stuff they got are my favorites. My fave novels, CD's and clothes were borrowed and I've never seen them again. What do you think of these people? Did they just really forget?

I've lost a few things because of lending it to other people. Sometimes, when they do give back my stuff, it looks like it was handled very poorly. I get irritated especially if it's my books.. Now I've learned my lesson and I don't lend people my stuff anymore. I don't care if they're gonna call me selfish. It doesn't matter to me. I care for my things more!

so true! you'd think that when you borrow some stuff you would take care of it since it's not yours. but some people really just don't care.

I once lent an old friend $1.5K interest free. He faced a financial situation because one of his overseas clients played him out. He promised to return it to me within a month after he settled his problem. Well, that was like 7 years ago, and he still hasn't returned the money. I have since given up hope of seeing the money, and have written it off. I am treating it like I gave him the money to help him out and don't expect anyting back.

wheeewww......that's a lotta money! yea, i think its better to think of it as a way to help him out. at least we're still blessed to still have something, maybe even better without the money.

I have forgotten about this loan already and think of it as having done a good deed to help someone. I'm not in need of money and I'm ok financially, so the non-return of that loan doesn't bother me anymore. If one day, my friend shows up and surprises me with the return of the money, I will consider that a bonus.

Oh that is so like my sister! We do have the tendency to quarrel over such things because she is so strict when it comes to her things but she doesnt also return diligently those things that she borrows. One of my pet peeves really is really having to ask for the things that were borrowed from me. My officemates too have the tendency to borrow my calculator and never return it unless I ask for it.

My wife lent a srew driver of mine to our neighbors and in a year and a half, I have yet to see it. I know it is just a screw drive, but I think God is trying to teach me that thinkgs can be replaced and that I have plenty of screwdrivers. If it is something big I lend out, I make sure to get it back though.

i think i can agree with this. my father would always complain that my uncle would always choose to go to our house when he's not around and borrow his tools. it really pisses him off that every time some of his tools are missing it would always be that my uncle borrowed it. i think my father's point is that he always tries to keep his tools complete for when he needs them but when that time comes, it would not be where it should be.

I try to keep my tools that way to. But it is hard when married or you are so busy you cannot put them away then...

My one brother borrows my things all the time. He often does forget where he got something from. I will ask him if I can have something back and he will tell me he is sorry he forgot. I try to believe that someone I care about wouldn't want to cheat me in this way. I no longer loan things that are important to me. If someone wants to borrow a cd of mine I will burn them a copy.

I lost my favorite book, a special addition of Gone with the Wind. I think the person that borrowed it, didn't want to return it because of it's value. I don't borrow stuff out to anyone anymore for if it gets broken it would be my own responsibility for lending it to someone anyway....so I'd rather have it with me so if something happens there are no hard feelings.

I have loaned some things out to friends in the past. Some didn't return them. A couple of friends dropped my books into the tub. They didn't even bother saying sorry. I got it back all soggy. I told them to keep it and to buy me another copy. They got real upset over that request! Needless to say, I don't loan things out anymore.

Maybe I am selfish, but I don't like to loan my things out. Sometimes you have a hard time getting them back and most of the time, the people who borrow them don't take as much care of the item because it isn't theirs. Even worse, is when the borrower lends my stuff out!

It is really irritating when I lend out my stuff and they just "gone". Most times, I think the guys who borrowed my stuff just forgot to return it. Sometimes if I was sure that the person just didn't want to return my stuff, I just asked it back.

I've borrowed one rare and pretty expensive comic book to my "friend" and he didn't return it. He said he lost it but I don't think so. When I tell him to return it, he just laugh at me. I hate. I could punch him:P

I am not good at borrowing things.I just like to have my stuff back and not many people accept that.I never really borow clothes, but nobody ever ask me, I just guess , people around me are not use to do that.We just don't borrow clothes. The one thing I borrow and still would are books.I like to share what I have , but they have to return it back to me.I borrowed already such a big amount of money and never got them back, but I hope I learn from it and never would borrow any money.
