dogs don't sweat through there skin like humans. Instead they 'sweat' through there tongues, thats why they pant when its hot outside.

They sweat through their tongue, their tongue is like an insulator thats why they pant with their tongue out.

I don't think they do. I have 2 dogs now and I've had a lot of dogs before and I've never seen any of them sweat.

You are right and dogs do pant to cool down and that is there way of sweating. I think you are very clever to have figured that out for yourself so I wouldn't laugh but think that it was well observed. Not everyone would have made the conection, they might have realised that they pant when hot but not that it was their way of cooling down.

Don't only sweat through the pads of their feet. They don't have sweat glands on their skin and can only cool themselves through the feet and by panting. This is why dogs overheat more easily than humans.

dogs' sweat glants are in their tongue, they never sweat from fur!

That would explain why the fur isn't all wet after a hott day! thanks for your response.
