the simplest and the easiest one is those Old Fashioned Black Beans. you need for that..... 1 small package navy beans 4 tbsp granulated sugar 2tsp salt 1/4 tsp black pepper 1 tsp powdered mustard 1/2c. molasses 1 piece salt pork 1 med. peeled whole onion. soak beans overnight. in the morning replace the water by draining them. parboil 10-15 minutes, not longer than that. place onion in a crock pot . drain beans and put on top of onions. add flavours dissolved in 1 1/2 cup of hot water . add enough hot water to just cover top of beans . place salt pork on top, cover and set crock pot on high . bring volume of water up about every 3 hours. cook for 6-7 hours.

I love using my slow cooker during the hotter months as well. I like to cut up about a 5-6 lb. chuck roast into small chunks. Place the beef chunks in the slow cooker with about 1/4 c. mustard, 1 c. water, and about 9 cloves of garlic sliced up. Cook this for about 8 hours on slow. Or another dish we like is to take about about 6-8 pieces of chicken and brush with some melted butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper before placing in the bottom of the slow cooker. Add 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 2 tbsp. of dried Italian salad dressing, 1/2 c. sherry, 1 tbsp. onion minced, and 8 oz of cream cheese cut into cubes. Cook this on low for about 6-8 hours.

Pork Loin Roast. Brown roast on all sides in bacon fat. Then sprinkle on all sides with garlic powder, seasoned salt, thyme and pepper. Place in slow cooker with 1/2 cup of apple juice. Cook on low for 8 hours. It is the best thing I have ever tasted!
