How often do you talk/communicate w/ your mother? (if she doesn't live with you)

I just spent an hour talking to my mother on the phone earlier. She is back in my native country and I never fail to call her every Saturday night for the past 6 years. I call and talk to her too during special occasions. Sometimes, I call her thrice a week, just to do little chit-chat. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I was calling her everyday because I felt homesick. Same thing is happening now...I am calling her almost everynight ( I am dreading my phone bill..lol) but it makes me feel so much better after I talk to her. We do text messaging too everyday then chat online once a week. I guess with all of these type of communication, her missing me and vice versa is lessen a little bit...plus she can always talk to her granddaughter. How about you? How often do you communicate with your mother if she lives far or away from you? Are you always looking forward to those talk or just exchange pleasantries most of the time?

My mom and I live in the same city. I go over there at least once every 2 weeks and visit. And we usually talk on the phone once or twice in between. We get together and go shopping, to the casino and out to lunch alot. So I get to see her quite often. I love my Mom I would miss her too much if we didn't see each other for a while. I can't imagine how you feel

I am glad that you get the chance to spend time with your mother. What is hard in my part is am an only child and my parents are separated so basically it is just me and her. She is such a wonderful mother and I owe what I am today because of her. I am working on having her come join me so she can enjoy her grandchildren in her ripe age. Thanks for the comment.

it is good that your mother is still that strong. it is always nice to be going places with our mom. i used to do that with my mom, too, when we were seeing better days. now, she is not keen on going places anymore and i am tied at home caring for my sick child. i still hope that things will get better soon. we can never tell.

My wife and I only leave one town over from where my mother and father live, so we visit fairly often, maybe one every 2 or 3 weeks or so. I personally call my mother once a week, just to check in and make sure everything is okay with her, my father, and my younger sisters. It's not a tradition nor do we have a certain time to do it, but it's just one of those things where we talk with each other just to catch up and check in on each other.

That is really nice. Family should keep in touch all the time because it shows that we care. I know of some people that it is fine for them not to talk to their parents or siblings for a period of time and I always think, how hard it can be when the phone is just right there. Thanks for the comment.

Hi ladymoonstone, I can imagine how close you are with your mother. I always visit my mother every weekends. If I cannot visit her, I will just call her on the mobile. Sometimes my mother wll also pay me a visit.

That is good. I really think that we should keep in close contact with our mother even if we are far from each other. Thanks for the comment.

That is nice. Sometimes I call my mother and ask her what is happening over there where she is at...and sometimes there is nothing really since I just asked the same question when I text message her earlier in the day. Thanks for the comment.

At least 5 times a week! Am I lucky! Yes I am. That is because we see each other almost everyday because we live in the same neighborhood and she come to our house everyday before I go to work so she could watch after the kids though they have their nanny. She just wants to make sure the kids are really taken good care. When she arrives, we immediately normally engage in chitchat, that is while we are having breakfast or while I am getting ready for work. We talk about anything :).

i used to get to meet my mother on a weekly basis. lately, it has been months since we last met and really talked. my brothers have assured me that she is in good condition. we have provided her a cellphone but, we were told that we will just be contacted when there is a need for us to be around. my borthers though get to see her about three times a week. we are providing for some things that our mother shall need especially on the angle of health. i am happy for you that you are at peace where you are since you talk with your mom whenever you feel like doing so.

I am glad that at least you have your brothers to visit your mother and knowing she is ok will make you feel better. I am an only child so I worry about her all the time. I am just thankful that with our modern tech, communication is so easy...unlike before that the only way to communicate is writing letters and it will take months for the letter to arrive. That must be so terrible between families before. Thanks for the comment.

i love my mom - so much :)
i miss my mom:) i just talked to her yesterday and probably later again today. most of the time, we'd exchange text messages and when she feels like talking to someone she calls me up (she is under a cp plan so she doesn't have to worry about her load limit). i communicate with her everyday. i make sure to ask how she is and how is her day. i ask her anything under the sun so i really have to talk to her often. but even if i do this everyday, i still miss the times when we would talk personally. i am always looking forward for those times.

My mother and father live in New Zealand and we keep in contact a couple times a month, either via phone call or text messaging -she is actually good with text messaging and does it frequently. I always look forward to talking to them both. It is actually cheaper for them to call us especially in the weekends so she tries to at least twice a month.

Thanks for the text messaging, you always can get a quick reply from the other side. My mother and I text message everyday, just telling how we are doing and how is she doing. Sometimes though, if I fall asleep (time difference AM here, PM there) and my mother can't receive any text message from me or I haven't replied she will panic...lol. So, I told her the time to panic is that when she can't hear from me for days. Thanks for the comment.

i am so surprised that my husband hasnt got upset with me yet, because i talk to my mom so often. i would say that i talk to my mom at least once a day. even if its just for a few minutes, we talk every single day. she only lives about 20 minutes away from me, but we have a very close relationship. she knows me better than anyone else. she can even sense when i am upset or in a bad mood, or if i have other things on my mind. i used to go visit her at least once a week, but that has changed now that i have two kids. now she is the one who comes over to visit us. even though i talk with her everyday, i always look forward to talking with her. i appreciate every day and every conversation that i can have with her. she is just like a best friend to me.

My mom and I live in the same town, but we talk on the phone daily. If she don't call me, I call her! I don't get out much to doing any visiting, but she comes by to see the grandkids about 3-4 times a week. Have you thought about changing your phone plan to unlimited long distance? Provided you have something like that where ever your at. Might help with all the calls! I do know there are several programs online too that you can use to talk to anyone in the world that don't cost either. Just need a microphone and speakers. Wish I could think what they were called....lol

My mother and I talk at least 2 times a day. She lives in another state temporarily, but even when she is in my state we chat on the phone, and hang out. My mom is one of my best friends. I don't think I could make it a week without communicating with her somehow.

My mother and I seldom talk. We just talk if she is available but it was not that often. I usually talk with my grandmother but her I think were not that close.

I don't get to talk to my mother very often, but we are far from each other. I live in Georgia, and she lives in Texas. I try to call as often as i can, however it always seems to be few and far between. I love to hear from my mother, however i'm either working here or somewhere else. I do get online and chat with her on yahoo messenger at least three times a week, and she gets to see the whole family on the webcam too. I talk to her through the mic, so I suppose that in itself is almost like a call. I hope to improve my communication with my mother over the year, and hope to hear from her more often.
