if only it was silver. no i dont but i think it is probably a good idea i would think some washerupers arent the best and some restaurants have rats/mice running around in them. so probably a good practice shame we wouldnt be able to wash the plates first :(

Hello,jlara_gtr34,I do not usually clean the silverware before eating in a restuarant,I know those cuteries are not clean at all,but I think it should be fine as I already get use to it,unless i see some food remain on the cuteries, otherwise i will eat straight away without washing them. Also i do not think wiping them will be much difference,it just makes yo feel better:P

Yes, I always do that. I try to check wether those silverwares were really that clean and ready for use. When I was a little child I don't do that but as I grow up, it becomes a habit to me. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with that, right?

I always look at the silver ware but rarely wipe it unless is something on it and if it's bad I will ask for a new piece. I have worked in restaurants, and I know that where I live there aree laws about sanatation. It may be as simple as using a sanatizer or bleach in the rinse water and let the utensils and plates and pots and pans sit for a minimum time, the water is to be at a certain temperature so the heat will also half kill any germs. Most larger, or chain restaurants especially, use a machine to wash the dishes. It is washed at high temp, and they rise it with hot water mixed with sanatizer. At time a piece of silverware may get through that the washer doesn't get everything off but even with that it is safe because of the procedure if you just wipe iit off.

yeah, my mom also tends to wipe the plate especially if the plate is white and then she can see specks of dust on it. lolz. :P i have a friend who also brings her spoon and fork too but i think its because she has this sickness and her body cant afford to be sick again because she had already undergone a kidney transplant. :P

I used to wipe restaurant untensils a lot. I kinda got into the habit because my mom is a little paranoid about germs. I have since stopped doing this. I'm still paranoid about dirt however so I eat only in restaurants where I know they are clean or in fast food chains with plastic utensils.

haha, well, we are the same. my mom is also a little paranoid when it comes to germs. lolz. :P i guess i have gotten that trait from her too, but i am happy that im not so paranoid like her. there are times when i just give the restaurant an ocular inspection and thats when i decide if its clean or not. lolz. :)

Nope, I don't. I just assume that they are clean and just use it.

I don't. But I do take a look at it. At one restaurant, the silverware had some food caked on it. Ever since then I check it just to make sure it's at least been run through a dish washer.

eew.. really? what did you do? did you complain to the manager or something? or did you just simply ask for new a set of utensils? well, i guess that just goes to prove that there is really a need for us to check the silverware first if we are eating on a restaurant. lolz. :P

I don't have the habit of wiping the silverware when I'm eating outside. Basically if the silverware looks clean, it is sufficient.

hi there. :) well, i guess you really dont have such a problem with the silverware as long as you have your ocular inspection on them, right. hehe. :)

we usually use chopsticks made of wood in China. most of them are one-off in restaurants,so there is no need to wipe. supporse i use a silverware,i think i won't wipe them coz they are sterile.in another word if we wipe them we should have a cleaner thing than the silverware, however, usually the things what we use to wipe the silverwares maybe not so clean.

oh, do you use chopsticks. :) well, im partly chinese and you know what? one of my frustrations is that i dont really know how to use chopsticks. :P lolz. i have been trying really hard to learn it but i just couldnt get it. lolz. :P

Oh,it's a pity.I have not used such silverware in the restautant but plastic or porcelain ware.Though they're porcelain i will wipe it again.I have remembered once in a small restaurant, the ware were dirty, and all of us five classmates were ill for it. Maybe it's biten by a snake once,i was afraid of the rope.

oh really? ooh, that is a bad experience. :( well, i guess we really have to be more careful in choosing the places where we will eat so that we wont get ill. :) i do prefer to just eat at home because that way, i can be sure of the cleanliness of the dishes and the food. :) lolz. :P
