When time gets away from you, should you just skip breakfast?

I have been trying to eat a healthier diet lately, which means trying to get in something for breakfast in the morning. This means that usually I am hungry in the mornings even though in the past I could go til noon or later without eating. So that's definitely healthier, but here's my problem. Some days, like today, I lose track of the time here at work, then I suddenly feel hungry. I look at the clock and see it's almost 10 AM. Then I wonder, should I eat my poptarts now, knowing that it will ruin my appetite for lunch? Or should I just skip breakfast and be extra hungry at noon when lunch time comes? What do you guys think is the healthier way to go? If I eat breakfast late, I usually don't eat much of anything for lunch. And delaying my lunch isn't an option, we all eat between noon and 1 PM. I could easily fight the hunger until lunch, I just don't know if that's really a good idea! Then tomorrow, hopefully I will pay more attention to the time and have my breakfast before 9 like I prefer :)

I would definitely say to try and never skip breakfast - it is the most important meal of the day - it's what gets you going in the morning and from studies I have read - they show that people who eat something for breakfast most often tend to lose weight faster than those who skip it!!! Even if you could grab a piece of fruit or something light - it will help!!!!

True true, I guess I don't think "light". Even 2 poptarts (what I was planning to have today) can fill me up and make me not hungry for lunch. I should just grab some fruit on days like today so that I can have my breakfast and still be hungry when lunch time comes. I want to be healthier so perhaps I need an alarm to remind me to eat in the morning :)

I have a very bad habit of doing this. Like now, for example, it's nearly 10am and I still haven't made time to eat breakfast. I will, though, and eat some oatmeal. The funny thing about this is that I always make breakfast for my kids and boyfriend . . . yet, I rarely eat with them because I'm busy doing other things while they eat.

Sounds like you are in the same boat as me, time just flies sometimes doesn't it?? I guess I should try (next time this happens) to at least have a granola bar or a juice or something small.

I think it is a good idea to always eat breakfast, even if you just grab a piece of fruit on the way out of the door. I think you should eat lunch as well though as you need the energy from the food that you eat in these meals to get you through the day.

Usually,if the time gets away,I still have breakfast.I won't skip it unless it is 11 am.Eating breakfast is good for our health.I think even if it will affect the appetite for lunch if you have breakfast too late, you should have. But you can have a little realtively. However,it's better than having nothing and directly go to have lunch.Even though I don't the scientifical explaination to this,I suggest you not skipping your breakfast unless it's indeed so late.

You should eat breakfast,Because it is the most important meals in your days.If you do not eat breakfast you will be unhealthy.Sientists say that a person without breakfast he will be suffered stomach illness. And for someone to be thinner,he or she should not live without it.Beacuse that will make he or she fatter.

I have heard breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I think because it helps wake your body up and make you more alert. I know that if you eat a good breakfast it will increase your metabolism and you will burn more calories in the morning than you would otherwise. If you dont have a lot of time just eat a cereal bar or something else that is easy like that.

Honestly, having started to eat healthier just recently, I know what you're going through. I never used to have breakfast and just ate at lunch instead. I've tried doing the whole breakfast thing but some mornings I'm just not in the mood. When that happens, I grab a cereal bar. They're filling enough that they'll fill me till lunch and they're also healthy. They're low fat and contain real fruit. That way I can still have breakfast but not feel too full when lunchtime rolls around.

I tend to eat breakfast as soon as I get up and not eat again until dinner time. The breakfast gets me through the day without too much problem. The breakfast also gets your metabolism going for the day. cheers,

I don't skip my breakfast even i'm in a hurry or very busy. For me,it's really important. Your body need lots of energy to work for the day. Try your best not to skip your breakfast or try to alarm your clock in the morning so you can cook, and can eat properly during lunch.

I am not even CLOSE to being a morning person, so I would skip breakfast often. I discovered I did better to grab an apple on the way out the door. I would also take some grapes as a snack. It kept my metabolism going and I didn't feel hungry. I still ahd an appetite for lunch as fruit doesn't keep you full for hours.

I cannot eat when I first wake up. It takes me a couple of hours to adjust to even thinking of food. I usually grab something around 9:30 to 10:00 am like you do at the office. I try to bring breakfast bars, granola bars, yogurt or something that I can stash in the frig and eat quickly. I've never been a big breakfast fan but I do enjoy cooking it on the weekends. If we are on vacation we usually make it a brunch :) Health wise, I do think it is a good thing to put something in your stomach every 4-5 hours. It helps keep your metabolism stable, gives you energy and makes you feel better overall. You also don't go into the starving routine and then overeat when you do sit down for a meal.

I think that it is probably healthier to eat your breakfast later and just eat a smaller lunch. I prefer to eat lunch later if I can, but since you can't, I would just eat a smaller lunch. That is what I would do anyway.
