For Those From Japan

Hello...If there's one place in the world I would like to visit someday, it's Japan. I've never been there but I'm fascinated by the culture and how Japan deals with such high population with politeness. So, anyone here from Japan? Please share with me things that people might not know about Japan. Where are the best places to go? What is your favorite part about being from/living in Japan?

I am not from Japan, but it has always been a wish of mine to go there. I too love their culture. As a Zen practitioner, I have always been interested in visiting the country that I have learned from.

I'm kinda bummed that no one else has responded to this post - not even one single person from Japan. It really would be something to visit there, I think. They are such an old culture and, for the most part, that culture is still present today even with all the modernization that goes on there.

It is a shame that nobody from Japan has answered your post. Maybe there's still time yet. :-)

I should be the only Japanese man in the forum. I suggest you go to Japan in good season. The best time is either April/May or September/October. Summer is too hot and humid whereas winter is cold. "Japan Rail Pass" is always the good buy if you want to be the budget traveller. Stay in Toyoko-Inn. It is cheap and clean hotel in Japan.

i like japanese people who are GENERALLY being very polite and honest to others. But sometimes they are percieved as too formal and conservative. For tourist, here are pros and cons: Pros: Clean, Safe, Rich Culture, Accountable Cons: Expensive (taxi/hotel), and Language

Japan is one of the places I want to visit too, but it is one of the most expensive countries to go to. So I content myself with looking at pictures from friends who have gone there or from books and magazines.

Do you mean it's expensive to get there or is it also expensive to buy things there. Someday, when I have lots of money, I'm going! lol

If you're traveling to Japan, I highly recommend going to the Kansai region (Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe, in particular). Kyoto has a traditional feel to it, as there are many cultural landmarks that are scattered throughout the city. Osaka has a wonderful nightlife and has a vibrant urban feel to it. Kobe, in my opinion, has to be one of the most 'international' cities in the country.

Excellent....I think I would like Kyoto the best by what you have discribed here. I love to learn about other cultures and to see those landmarks I'm sure would be amazing. Thanks for sharing :)
