I wake up really early just as its getting light out my eyes open and Im ready for the day. I put the coffee on and feed my cats and I always look out my kitchen window at what I dont know.LOL Yesterday I didnt empty out my little pool and I usually do. So when I looked out there were deer drinking out of the pool. There was a mom and two little ones with her. And they were so cute. I was real quite because any little sound and they will run off. They were there for awhile and then my husband came down and that spooked them. Just wanted to share with you.

Oh, I would love to have seen that. You must have felt sort of like you were part of a wilderness show briefly. Now, I have another question. Is your avatar a picture of your own dog or someone else's? I'm in the process of collecting good pictures of dogs and cats and birds for my Patches' Pet Pal items. I'm going to be donating a part of the profits to Petfinder.com for now and then I will be raising funds to help low income families get medical assistance for their animals. If the picture belongs to you, I'd love to use it if you'd let me. Thanks...

Hi whimsystoryteller yes the deer I saw that day were adorable I just wanted to go out and grab them. My avatar is not my pet. I dont have a dog I have cats but I love all animals. Probably way too much.LOL So Im not sure how that would work but you can use it.

Unless the picture belongs to you, I'd be hesitant to use it. Does the picture belong to you or is it something you downloaded?

That is pretty cool. Did you take any pics. It is crazy on how close some animals do come if they think that no one is looking or that will bother them.

WOW it's so cool Terry. I have never seen deer like that. You are lucky to live in a area like that. In my place we can see only squirel and rabbit and birds in times:). Nothing more than that. May be you should keep the pool ful to see deer in the morning:).

I live in a rural area and in my front yard we have an apple tree that the deer love to nibble on. Every summer we see deer come and check out the tree to see if the apples are ripe enough. When the apples are ripe they are there at all times of the day and night. It really is a sight to see them in your yard. Keep an eye out they might come back for another sip of water.

That is really neat! We used to live in the country and early in the morning and late in the evening we would have several deer cross through our yard to the woods behind our house. They are very beautiful animals and i enjoy watching them myself. The only part I did not like was that when they crossed my yard anything flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, that they thought were tasty they would eat!

Wow what a nice thing to wake up to. Are you going to leave the pool filled at night now just to see if they come back?? My kids love to feed the deer around here. Infact my mother-in-law took them to go feed some deer at a deer farm last fall when i had my baby and i was still in the hospital. They just had a blast with it. For you to wake up with a mother in two fawns in the back yeard is a gift to see and i wish that i could have seen this with my own eyes.

Thats adorable. It takes me back to a time when my partner were out in the car and driving around looking for the entrance to a provincial park. Our journey took us onto a residential street. As we drove down, a fallow deer came bounding out in front of the car and then stopped. My partner hit the brakes and we came to a screeching halt. As we did, a little baby followed the mama deer out into the road. The baby had to have been no more than 2 weeks old. Tiny and so so cute! They both strolled off to someone's front garden, and began to nibble at their plants. Oooops lol. I guess they've been having problems with Deer there, but it was a very touching scene.
