What is the point of fighting online? It is so pointless in my opinion for people to get mad at someone else over the internet and start flaming at them and their topic. Flaming is basically spam and those who do flame in forums should be warned and then banned. It gets me annoyed when I see that people are actually fighting over the internet. If you 'win', then what? Plus I think that it lowers your reputation in many places when people see you as one who flames. This is why I always try to have a positive attitude online. If you fight online you are only wasting your time. What do you all think about this? Please post your opinion I would like to hear it.

It's all part of venting frustration sometimes. Some people come to myLot to de-stress. So they make snide remarks and fight virtual tongue battles. Whether they feel better or worse later, beats me really. :P

Hmm yes this is true, you never know what is going through a person's head. They could've had a bad day in real life and just need a place to vent. Thankfully I am yet to see any flaming on myLot but I have witnessed it a few times in other sites. Well, thanks for the response I appreciate it and I rated it +.

Thanks. ;-) And you will see flaming here too - we have too many discussions bouncing around but it exists. :P

Yeah I bet, you really can't escape it there are pessimistic people all over the internet. Hopefully I will see it later rather then sooner, again rated + thanks for response.

Hi, RESguy! I can tell you from personal experience it's best to stay out of flame wars. I made some new "friends" here on Mylot and tried to defend them in a discussion. I ended up getting flamed beyond belief and became a pawn in the war between them and the people they were fighting with. In the end, they all became friends and dumped me. So, it's not only important to be careful who you befriend, but be careful who you get into it with. They might not be willing to back off and let it go later, as was the case with one former user here. Then you end up like me, insulted and dumped by your "friends." It's not worth it.

Thanks! I should have realized I was being used, too. As long as I fought their battles for them, I was good enough to be their friend. After it was over, out with the garbage! So, your friends should understand if you don't want to get into flame wars. They are dangerous and people really do get hurt! :-)

Ah, I hate when things like that happens, but I guess that goes to show you who your real friends are .. or aren't. If it didn't happen then it would eventually have happened in the future :-\ I wish you the best of luck with your friends in the future though :) Rated +.

I am sorry to hear that clownfish, but thankfully you have been able to use your experience to warn others. I never get into flame wars anyways, if my friends are in them they should understand why I don't want to be otherwise they aren't really friends. Thanks for the great response, I have rated it +.

I believe one reason may be that they are powerless in some area of their life and maybe this gives them a sense of power,or maybe they are taking anger out on others that the have inside?or some I believe are just voicing their opinion in a subject that is sensitive to them?maybe their intentions arent always to offend the other person but to just voice their strongopinion, otherwise, some are doing it for fun?
