The best news I've been waiting for - Lily comes home this week!

OK - to all my friends and those who have been following the saga of Lily............... I've just spoken to the Vet and it is the BEST NEWS!!! She can come home on Wednesday:-)) She'll still need regular visits to the Vets Hospital for bandage changes for a few weeks, and will also have to be kept separated from the other cats, and not allowed out for a few weeks (which means shutting her in a room when we're at work), - but she is CURED:-)) I am at work now, so can't really be on here for too long - but I was so excited I just wanted to tell everyone now! Thanks for all your love, support and prayers to my sweetest little kitten girl!!! Rose

i know rosie will give her a tender loving care and will soon recover. most pets recover quick with the care of their owners. and rosie is a good cat owner that's why lily survived... because of rosie!

Awww thanks Maryanne - yes - my cats are my babies - and I love them all as if they were my own children. To many people that is strange, but I've always been that way. Thanks to both of you for your responses.

I'm delighted as well.. Lucky Lily, to have an owner and friend as sweet and caring as you are... I'm so jealous of you, for having a pet on your own... My brother, he got asthma, so my parents not letting us to have any pets... One day, when I have a house on my own, I will surely have a cat as my pet...

What brilliant news. She is such a fighter and she has won!! I wish you all the best for her speedy recovery. I remember when this first happened, she didn't even look like surviving the next day. I am so happy for you. My thoughts are with you and good luck on Wednesday!!!

Thanks. I am actually a little scared of having her home - she still seems so frail - but the Vets have done a great job so far, so guess I can only go with their judgement again.

I just read about your little girl, I am so sorry for you and her. I have lost many cats over the years and I had one fight back from a car accident it is the worst thing seeing your little ones sick or hurting. I am so happy to see that your Lily did it and is going to recover and will be coming home to you. She is your miracle cat. Your love for her is so great to see, so many people would have put her down rather then spend the money to heal her. Give her a hug and a kiss for me to, what a brave little girl.

Money was never going to stop us saving Lily - we would have remortgaged our house if necessary! And of course I'll give her lots of cuddles - she just loves cuddles:-)) Thanks for your response.

Oh margie, it is a really long story......... but basically I waas alone one Saturday night about 2 months ago, and Lily staggered in with her back leg completely destroyed - just the bones and some tissue remained. It was the most horrible thing I had ever seen - even the Vets said they had never seen anything like it. They don't know if her leg was somehow caught/crushed by a car, or caught in a snare or trap and she ripped all the skin off trying to extricate herself. They wanted to amputate, but then said she had an outside chance of saving her leg by having it completely rebuilt with skin grafts etc, but would take a long time and cost a lot of money. We opted for that - it has been a long road.

Yay!! I was thinking about lily the other day. I am sure she will be sooo happy to be home. Looking forward to a pic of her... I am soo glad your little miracle kitty is going to be back with you after all she has been through and after the vets originally saying she may not make it. Hugs to her and you, Tanika.

Thanks Tanika. The Vets say she may actually be a bit scared to be home at first............ she has spent the last 2 months in a cage, and suddenly the big house and the other cats may scare her a bit:-(( But I know she will come through it - she's a very strong character.

Oh Rosie how wonderful---- I am so glad to hear she is gonna be okay- and happy she is coming home- She is gonna be so happy to be home. If it were me I probably wouldn't be able to keep my hands off of her for days, just hugging her and holding her and loving her. I can't imagine what you have been going through but am extremely thankful that it is almost over and has a happy ending!!!! Many hugs and kisses to Lily for her happy homecoming and recovery.

LOL yes - you know me too well! I am a lot like that when we go and visit...... but still have to be so careful, as she's very frail and still has no fur, and the scars from were they took the skin grafts from her stomach are still fasirly fresh, so we can't handle her too much:-(( In time that will change though.

oh no- ouch... poor little thing has been through so much. I think she is gonna give a big sigh of relief when you get her home- if this were my Buca Boy - I think he would have just had a nervous breakdown from being away from us for so long. She is one brave kitty.

You know - it' actually funny - we were talking about this at the Vets last night. If this had been my Sasha or any of my "boy" cats I think they would have pined away by now too - but us women are made of sterner stuff! LOL!

Thats fantastic news Rosie!! I've been wondering about your little kitten just recently too. Did they manage to save her leg or did they end up amputating? I'm sorry if you mentioned that in a different discussion. If so, I guess I missed it lol. I'm so pleased that she made it through what sounded like a horrifying experience though. Congratulations :o)

Yes - they saved her leg. She has had several skin grafts taken from her belly. It is the most amazing feat of vetinerary science - their work has been totally amazing! Thanks for your response.

Well at the moment she is not a pretty sight?9 Still not much fur – just a big collar round her neck to stop her chewing, and huge eyes…………. But for sure there will be pictures! Thanks for your reply.

Hello rosie. You must be feeling euphoric for your Lily. I feel like watching a movie while following up on what's happening to Lily. Prayers and support does help a lot. I'm so happy to hear that your sweet Lily is finally going home with you. Bravo to our little Lily.

I was just wondering about Lily, I had not seen any posts on her lately. I am so glad that she did so well during treatments and that she is now able to come home! Did you ever find out exactly what happened? I guess it does not really matter as long as she is ok now, but I am sure you will be worried in letting her go out again. Good luck and I hope that her progress continues to go well!

No - they never found out exactly what happened - and unless she can suddenly learn to talk - I guess they never will! And yes I will be worried about letting her out again, but with 4 other cats who wander in an outall day, it will be impossible. At first we can supervise her, and keep her locked in one room while we're at work, but ultimately as she regains strength, she will want to go out again - and Lily is a feisty, wilful little soul (probably what saved her ultimately), and she will refuse to stay in! LOL!
