FM Understanding?

Do you find yourself rating your fellow FM'ers positively because they understand? Or is it that you understand what they have to live with? When FM'ers support each other do you read and go down the line clicking that little plus sign before you reply? I sure do.

I don't rate positively because I feel sorry for someone or because I know what they are feeling. I rate positively for well thought-out answers. Having an illness doesn't give you sympathy points for posting poor responses to discussions. I don't expect people to rate me positively just because I have fibro. I like to think I give good quality discussions and that I am being rated on that, fibro or no fibro.

I don't classify it as 'sympathy' points. In comparison to other health-related discussions the FM ones seem to be of higher quality. I see a knowledgeable and supportive group of FM'ers here at myLot that is sorely lacking elsewhere on the Web. That's not true with the others that are illness-related on myLot, but just the FM'ers. That's why I singled FM out in this discussion because it's different and better. To me. Perhaps you don't see it, but I'm saying I see it this way. And rate accordingly.

You are right that FM is the most talked about illness on here. When I first joined I asked if anyone had fibro on here and I got, like, 2 replies. Now they're popping up all over myLot. LOL! Fibromites DO tend to stick together. The illness is such that we all need each other's support and DO give it. And there are more and more discussions on here about it than there were six months ago.

I've only been here a few days so far but right after reading this I thought "Oh gee I AM doing that aren't I?". I think it is because others understand and you can relate to them. When I see another FM'er answering a question with really good info I feel like it's important for me to acknowledge that by giving them a + rating. I also know how much typing hurts with fibro so I know they have put alot of thought and pain into their post.

I agree. You know, I have four blogs because my ADD makes it hard for me to focus if I have all the different subjects of my life mixing plus it's an OCD thing BUT I honestly can't keep up and could probably never post every single day on all of them. In fact, I have a feeling that two of them will be gone soon. Just doing the few posts I do hurts so badly. If it wasn't for the little bit of money I pick up I don't even know that I would do it at all. 50 posts a day (not literally I know) would put me in more pain than I'm willing to be in from fibro. I've also got peripheral neuropathy and carpal tunnel so ummmmmm mama just isn't sittin and typin for long! lol. Just getting use to myLot today has made me hurt but I wanted to do this one last comment before closing the screen. :)
