How has My Lot helped you save money?

Soon after joining My Lot, I started reading all the frugal shopper tips and resolved to cut my family's monthly spending in half. I haven't done it so far. But, I'm well on my way. So far, I've cut our monthly grocery bill to less than $300 (down from $500 or more) found some amazing coupon sites, and even made a little extra money for household expenses. At this rate, I think we'll even have a little extra money to put into savings for a real summer vacation! How has My Lot helped you live a more frugal lifestyle? Has it helped you save any money?

Wow, congratulations! I can't say I've done quite as good a job as you have with the money saving, but it has definitely made me more motivated to save and given me some really great ideas. I actually started making a list of suggestions from the frugal living section and compiled my favorites into a little notebook so that I can remember them all for later! I think I have been able to put just a little extra into savings by using some of the good ideas I've gotten. :)

Oh, I wish I had thought of your frugal notebook idea. Hope you don't mind if I use it? I can never remember the better frugal tips when I'm offline.

I've found some pretty good ideas on mylot for ways to save money, too. I started on mylot when I cut down my hours at my job, because I was looking to make a few extra dollars a month. It seems like the pay has gone down since I started, but I've found so many other ways to save money that it really doesn't matter that much. I'm not here for the money anymore. That's great that you are doing so well with cutting expenses. I must say that it wouldn't be at all realistic for me to have set a goal to cut down half of our spending, since our spending was only around $350-400 a month for a family of three, and three pets. But I have managed to cut it back to $250-300. I've also started using some excellent sites that I found out about on mylot to make money, and to receive some great samples (sometimes full size products).

That is amazing! And, I thought I was doing a good job. How do you save so much money on groceries. I've only been cutting food costs for a little bit now, so maybe next month will be better. Would love to know your money saving secrets! :) And, where do you get your samples from? A mom can never have too many freebies.

Yes it has. It was on MyLot I learned about online printable coupons. I've used the sites twice now. First time I saved about $5, the second time I saved $3.95. I just printed up some more coupons yesterday. Should be about another $5 in savings. The one thing I keep in mind as I'm looking at the coupons to print is to *only* get ones for things I'm going to buy anyway. Not a savings if I buy something just because I have coupon?!

I would say that I didn't notice any coupon sites, so maybe you can help me with this... I like frugal living in general. Mylot helped me, because I invested money from mylot and I made nice profit on it..(*6)

wow-- keep it up- I belong to freelancebyu-- it's a money saving website- great deals, coupons etc. I use what I learn here at mylot- but I haven't saved any money yet- Mylot is going to save me money in the long run- I'm using what I make here on Christmas shopping this year- that will save some of my Out of pocket cash!

I've certainly become more aware of what I'm spending my money on, and how much money I'm spending on those items. Not only that, it's pointed out places to look for coupons and deals on items that I want, or don't normally get because the items are too expensive on my budget.

I just recently discovered the Frugal Section of MyLot, but I have been enjoying it. You've done really well and saving for vacation always makes it more enticing to save money. I think summer is easier to do that because there is a lot of fresh produce, you can grow your own or shop at farmer's markets. I have gotten some good ideas from MyLot about craft sites and making Christmas gifts (or just gifts in general), so I think it will pay off in the long run.
