What will you usually do to make your plant fertile?

I know especially orchids that they spray some kind of chemicals to make them bloom within days or weeks. They also do the same with pineapples, though it may not be the same kind of chemicals. They would spray them at the right time and they predictably blooms and ripen for harvest just at the time when prices are higher in the market. Ask the local gardening shop, they would know it.
