What Do You Save On Most?

I spend so much on skincare and clothes that I need to cut down on my other expenses. I would say I save most on food, I tend to eat less and go to inexpensive restaurants just to cut down its expenses, what about you? What do you save on most?

Most times food is our biggest expense, and can cost $500 or more every month. For this reason, we try to economize whenever possible by buying cheaper versions of food items and simplifying recipes whenever possible. Recently, we stopped drinking so much milk everyday which has saved us a signifigant amount of money. Nowadays we stock up on meats and pantry items whenever possible so that we don't have to go into the stores so often. Just by shopping less often in stores, we are able to cut our food bill in half!

That's so cool that you would give me best response. Sorry I didn't get back to you on this sooner, but I just found the button that says, "Best responses". I didn't know there would be so many. Cool! Thanks.

You're welcome and you deserve it! Don't worry, I don't really check my best responses that much too!

Oh! when I'm thinking what I save on most, I realise that I save on nearly everything! But most of them are from clothes and food. If I find out that I'm going to have a financial crisis (or most of the time, in a financial crisis), I could cut my expenses on everything; I just stop buying, except for those most essential to my survival! But I'm telling you I can survive on just biscuits and oat meal! But when I'm not in such extreme situation, I would usually give up budgets on clothing and food for books, DVDs and crystals, it's like I haven't bought a new piece of garment for a long time! But still, I'll loosen the budget on food and let myself enjoy a good meal once in a while!

Same here. I am on really tight budget and it's no fun (not to mention a person like me love to have fun most of the time)! I almost cut down expenses on everything but I do think that my next electricity bill is exceptionally high because I need that to sleep in this humidity. Other than that, I am basically spending on only food and nothing else. Biscuits and oat meal? Wow! I have to survive on rice *smiles*.

Haha! Fortunately, the price for rice is not high, if you manage to do the cooking yourself; but if you're having it outside, then it's a totally different story! However, it's surely a nightmare to cook in these hot summer nights, unless the air-con it turned on, but then the expenses on electricity goes further up! What a pity! Haha!

Hello, womdericequeen,i do not spend much on skin care and clothes, but I think the living standard in australia shoukd be much higher than in Hong Kong.Everything is expensive in australia,i need to send much on transportation and food,I need to spend around 200 dollars for travelling, if i eat out often,i may spend 500 to 600 for food every month.Since i have joined mylot,i have stayed at home more often and I save muh money on food as i cook at home, may be you can try to do this as well.

Yes me too! I have been going out less spending time at home working on my projects and stuff but still I think I spend too much on clothes (less than before now) and that's why I can't save a lot of money no matter how hard I try. I think I should even stay home more often and cut down my clothing expenses *laughs*. Oh and those Australian branded skincare are selling much higher prices than they actually are in Hong Kong!!

I always save money in clothes,I try not to buy new clothes, except that I can not go on without some clothes.but I never save money in food.because I am very thin,so I need to eat good food that contains rich nutrition to keep healthy.I usually go to our school's dinning hall to eat,it is very cheap,so food can not spend too much actually.

I am the opposite, I cannot save on clothes, it's like killing me, but maybe I should really try cutting down my expenses on clothes too, then I could probably save more money!

40% of my gross income goes into loan repayments and 10% to savings and investments. 30% normal expenses. Out of the reamining i spend mostly on food and drinks. I save money on transportation by using pblic transportation. I also save onn laundry as i wash my clothes by meself.

I save the most on food, too. Dollar stores, Aldis, getting food from my garden and the wild. Soon from the trees in the backyard, etc. Our apples are doing well. I save on clothes because my last purchases were work clothes from yard sales. Also buy at a 2nd hand clothes store. Books at a used book store, too. Also from the library or reread old books of mine, my borther's girlfriend's books, and my husband's. Also trying to make things instead of buy them. Like use veggie and fruit net bags to turn into scrubbies to make pots and pans instead of throwing out one and buying the other. Gathering food and recycling are big savers.

Wow interesting! So you have a backyard where you could grow your own crops? I would really love that some day! That would be so much fun!
