Hi guys, just a question...Do most of us here still bother to follow or not to, concerning the right or correct posture in typing while doing some typing work on our computers? Or you will just make your own posture that makes you feel more comfortable while typing... Please do share your thoughts. Thank you!

I always aim to sit up straight in my chair and not lean back and crunch up my spine and torso. And if I am doing something that is going to take a lot of time, I get up and stretch every 20 minutes or so as I have a habit when I am concentrating on the computer to not move very much, and that is not too good for you. What helps to keep my spine relatively straight is to tuck my legs under the chair so that my knees drop down a little lower than my hips. I find this quite comfortable and there's less tension on the spine when it remains straight. :-)

Yes, exactly what I intend doing similar to yours like when I have to be doing a lot of typing works then after a few minutes gone, I just get up and do some body stretching so I won't have to feel any back pain or sometimes in my neck, I do feel this kind of pains whenever i'd stay much longer in front of my computer. So, thanks for sharing and yeah I thank you also for giving me as well another tip about some posture while typing. :-)

I think that maintaining the correct posture when typing is very important to keep all those backaches at bay. Having the right height and a comfortable chair is critical too to maintain a healthy back. I make sure that my chair is very comfy, of the right height and has very good back support. I can't just sit anywhere or at any chair when I am in front of the computer for a long time.

Yes, it's very much important to maintain such a right posture of typing to prevent backaches like you said, and yeah it's true it's not really easy to feel such a pain of backaches...so, better to prevent it and just make ourselves comfortable whenever we do things concerning typing itself. Thanks for sharing.

Hello gabs, yeah there is such a right posture for typing as what I do still remember during my College years. I do look like a statue then during those times as our teachers are very strict when it comes to such, whenever we have our typing lessons...oh, I hate to remember those days, LOL :-) but now, I can have full freedom to make my own posture as to what makes me more comfortable. :-) Thanks for sharing.

For the life of me, I cannot seem to make myself sit in the correct posture when I am typing on the computer. I never have my feet flat on the floor...my ankles are usually crossed or I have my feet up on a foot stool. And straight back? HAH! It never happens. I'm not saying I'm sitting like a little old hunchback in my chair, but my back isn't ramrod straight either. I can just hear my mother up in Heaven telling me to "straighten up!" LOL

Hello Katlady2, thanks for sharing. Yeah, we can truly be more comfortable to sit infront of our computers whatever makes us to, but for myself I do try to follow this right posture of typing as I don't like to have backpains, but sometimes I just can't follow it's right way :-)

having the right posture makes you more alive and keeps you away from the thought of sit back and relax :)

In terms of typing while lying down or sitting in a chair with a laptop, are there any guidlines about the right posture? I've had people tell me that typing with your legs crossed and the laptop in your lap isn't goood for you, but I can't find any reliable info on it. Right now I just do what's comfortable, and change position whenever I start to get sore, but I'd like to figure out what the "right" way is.
