I started living independently when I was 21! Its funny because my parents were really not keen on letting me live on my own. I had to device a tactic to get my independence. What I did was to move to my sister's place in another city so that they would feel secure in the thought that I am in safe hands. Then when they were already used to not having me at home, I then made my move to apply for a job in Manila (capital city of the Philippines). And the rest they say is history. I must say I had a hard time at first living on my own. There was no one to do things for me, no one to take care of myself but me. But then I got used to it and now I am not struggling as I did before:P My parents have also accepted my independence and I think they are quite proud that I made it on my own.

I really dont know. I came from the era when women lived at home until they married. I did want to move out when I was in my early 20's but my parents would not let me. In my generation children did not go against the wishes of their parents. I had some time after my divorce. But most of my live I have shared with someone so I really dont know much about being totally independent as in all by myself.

I am a 46 yr. old woman....I have lived on my own since I was 16 years old.....I worked hard all of my life and have had children that many years as well...many times it was extremely difficult....but I was unwilling to allow any of those people who said that I would never make it to be correct......it made me a stronger, more independent person...so I am glad they were so skeptical back then......LOL

I gave birth to my first child 4 months after I turned 16....I moved out of my mother's home when she was 3 months old...BUT without the support and childcare that my mother provided me with for the next several months...I am sure that I would never have made it...she is an amazing woman... By the time I was 17, I had moved several 100 miles away and never had to ask her for help again....I managed the best of my abilities...I worked hard and made good friends who also heped...and I helped them...I am proud that I have always been able to provide a good home for my children....

I don't know if you would call it independently but I was married when I was 18 years old. Leaving my parents house at that age I would say I was being independent. It wasn't easy because my husband was only 19 but we managed.

I moved away from home at 18, but I was living in the college dorms that my parents helped pay for so that wasn't very independent. I recently got married so we have our own place now, but my parents keep asking us how they can help us even though we're very well able to pay the bills. My husband is in the military and is being sent away for 4 months, so I will be living on my own then, but will still have his income to help pay the bills.

I moved on my own when I was 19. It was very weird at first being alone and away from parents, but I've learned to quickly adopt to the situation. And it is just fabulous for me today.

I think the essence of my existing status is independent. But still not totally into it since I live with my parents. I do help them financially and even though I live alone sometimes in my brother's house, they come and visit. And we share things to pay or buy.
