I think sometimes obesity is a disease. Sometimes people are genetically likely to become obese. Sometimes an illness will cause it no matter how careful you are. Sometimes medications will cause it. Sometimes, most often in my opinion, people become obese because of lack of excercise and overeating. You do not put on weight if you take in less calories than you use. I have no problems with obese people. People are people - obese people are like all other people: nice, pretty, angry, happy, wise, talented, polite, unkind.

Obesity may be acquired or inherited it has been proven. When acquired, the lifestyle of the person is definitely affected in one way or another thus certain understanding should be forwarded to those who see this in a different perspective. It is a pity prejudice is still there against obese people but lets not forget they are still a productive part of our society and have all the rights to live a very normal life.

Yes, obesity today is considered as the most widespread disease in the world, and USA being the most affected country. One of the chief reasons for this is the Eating Habbits that people are employing these days. I like to keep my weight in check. Although I am around 7-8 Kgs heavier than how I should ideally be, I can burn this amount of fat by exercising for some days. I have no special feelings for obese people. I see them just like I see others. The only thing is that I am a bit concernt about their health.

It`s not disease by itself. But it`s a reason for some serious diseases, so some control is very important. I have some problems with my kilograms too. Dont make too big dramma, just i need to pay more attention.

I never thought obesity is a kind of disease. However, I'm sure it'll cause various kind of disease, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. To be honest, I've lost my weight once according to doing physical exercises and keeping or controling my diet. I think it's necessary for obese people to do physical trainings and keep on a diet. Nowadays, more and more people have unfair opinions on those with obesity. I think we should not treat them unfairly no matter what happened. Have a nice day! :)

I believe sometimes obesity is genetic, and other times self inflicted. If a child was born with weight issues and health problems, then most likely that child could have health problems as they get older. But people with normal weight who become obese can blame nobody but themselves. They can get help. Having kids I tried to keep my weight in check but it gets hard after a while. Ikeep trying though

I agree with you. There are two kind of obese people. One is those who were born in nature. The other is those who have somthing to do with themselves. The former can not change it as time goes by. But the latter can really change by themselves. More physical exercises and less food every day, their weight will turn to normal soon. Keep trying, toe_ster. ^_^ Wish you and your family happy every day! :)

Obesity is a mild form of disease failing to reduce weight will lead to killer diseases like artery blockage, hypertension and and diabetes. I am fat but not obese. The misconception of people about obesity is they are lazy people, glutton and anti social. Ofcourse this is far from the truth as they are also like any normal humans. I feel the public should view obesity with fairness. They did not want to be born obese.

I had to comment as my wife just got back from the Philippines where we just bought a house in Negros...sumat..but her little neice told her .."tita you have to stop eating" ..yes my wife has gainned weight since we have been married in 1985..but not that much...lol...so everyone is so judgemental when you have a obvious defect...My doctor is from the Philippines and he is treating me for high blood pressure and so is my wife...but it is something that is from our genes...but we can help ourselves by diet and exercise...but even in the Philippines I see more and more Mc Do's and Joll Bea and of course my wife has to have the Colonel..which I tell her that is the worst thing to put in your body..like that SPAM that is popular...pure fat and byproducts... If a person is obese then they must pay extra for the privledge..extra airline seat? extra insurance premiums, and all the bad looks and comments people dish out...but a true friend will tell you if you are hurting yourself..also an enemy will tell you the truth because they are not afraid of hurting your little feelings..sometimes your enemy is looking you in the face everday in the mirror...obese people should not be lookd down at as they are just hurting themselves and their friends and loved ones because their life will be cut short by their own lifestyle
