Sunburned eyes?

Did you know that your eyes can get sunburned too? I heard this interesting bit of trivia on a morning show. I had no idea. But, they recommended wearing sunglasses with UVA/UVB protection. With summer coming up, I wanted to pass this information along to anyone planning to spend lots of time at the beach. Do you have any other sun-safe tips that you'd like to add?

I have never heard of sunburned eyes. All I know is to use eye gel around the eyes to prevent wrinkles forming. Maybe using dark sunglasses when going out can prevent the eyes from being exposed to the heat.

That is something I never heard. But yes, whenever I go out in hot sun for long periods,I get a burning sensation in my eyes, probably becuase of the dryness too.But yes,it is a good idea to use sunglasses.I need to use sunglasses because here in UK the radiation/glare of the sun is too much and I get headaches because of it. Another tip is to keep out of the brightest sun during the day-10 AM to 4 PM.Use sunscreen liberally and drink lots of water. One friend of mine suggested a very good tip that helps to cool down eyes.Just boil 250 ml water with 4-5 whole coriander seeds.Boil till half the water evaporates.Cool, strain and use as eye drops or eye wash.I have used this and it really helps.any redness in eyes is gone with this one.
