I did a quick search online and did not find anything about putting the vegetable oil on your pets, but putting the oil or a bowl of soapy water in a bowl under a 20 watt bulb to draw the fleas in and drown them. I did find a few web sites that suggested spraying a 50-50 mixture of apple cider vinegar and water on your dog to get rid of fleas or wipe the vinegar on your pet directly with a paper towel. You can also add the apple cider vinegar (one teaspoon) to your pets drinking water (make the animal taste more acidic). (http://www.indigosun.com/august99/animal.htm; http://frugalliving.about.com/cs/tips/a/blvinpets_2.htm; http://www.stretcher.com/stories/980716c.cfm; ) Have you talked to you vet about your flea problem? Are you or have you tried to treat your entire home and yard for fleas?

I would contact my vet. I use advantage on my pets year round. We had a bad infestation of fleas once and I swore that I would never go through that again. Cedar chips will keep them away but you still need to use something else.

I have had dogs all my life leave alone the past 2 years. I ran into trouble with fleas on numerous occassions. The best remedy that I found for the flea problem as far as home made remedies are concerned, is citrus water. Take plenty of orange and lemon peels. Boil them in water to make a sticky gooee sort of a liquid. This would require quite a substantial boiling. Dap the effected areas on your pet with a sponge and look at the miracle happen. Later on put the rest of the liquid on your pet as well sort of like giving him a bath with it. Leave him in that condition for around 15 minutes and then wash him off with regular shampoo or you can use anti flea shampoo available off the shelf as well. Best of luck

Never heard of veggie oil for your dog. It will get all over yur furniture! I was told to try a little DAWN dish washing liquid when you wash yur dog. Sposed to help with fleas. I been using Advantage on my dogs but it doesnt seem to keep them from scratching.

What a cute puppy! I've had good luck with Frontline for flea control. You can buy it on: www.PetCareRX.com . Be sure to get the kind for puppies or it will be too strong. It's kind of expensive, too.

I know that garlic helps control fleas. My mom used to give our dogs garlic tablets. She also used to give them Brewers Yeast...I believe that is what it was called. I also know that Avon Skin So Soft will help with fleas also.

the best thing i have found for fleas is the avon skin so soft foam bath , the original sent works best and even the bar saop you can use but its rather hard with a dog or cat that dont want a bath LOL , right now we are useing the light and lucious sent and havent noticed an difference ;) our dogs get batherd every 3 days as well tho , as for getting rid of fleas on the carpet reg table salt works the best , the salt will dry up the eggs and fleas only live 3 days so you can just spay the furniture for a few days while doseing your carpets and other trouble spots with salt or baking soda freshner / i dont know about the veg oil thing but i know any who use the avon skin so soft oil spray as well but we dont since the dog s get on the furniture and i dont want to clean that out of the couch all the time LOL hope this helps ~! ~M~

I found the best remedy for fleas is citrus. If you have a eat a lot of oranges, grapefruit, lemons, tangelos or any other citrus, save the peeling and boil it for a good 10 minutes. After letting it cool just pour or sponge on your pet starting with the ears first.

You can rub the coat with 50-50 vinegar water or lemon juice water. You can spritz with citronella oil you get from the pharmacy that diabetics use for mosquito repellant. Internal treatments like frontline are ok but be careful to have vets advice for a pup.

no dont do that. what are these people thinking. I use to be a groomer just give your puppy a flea bath get flea shampoo for puppies. Let it soak in for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly. And that should do. that will be $25

Yes, I had. But doesn't have results. Some people say to use all that stuff in the market. But the best is one. Remove the puppy from the house for at least 3 daqys. Get a specialist to spray your house and firnuture with special medicines. Then allow to the dog to return after you have removed the fleas with this special "drops" the market has. Be careful when you take it for a walk.

I would not do this to me it would be bad for the coat and skin .Pluss if the dog licks it's self which you know it well it is going to have a very upset stomack and accidents all over your floor lol. You can wash your dog with dawn dishwashing liq. mix it at a rate of 15 water to 1 dawn don't get this in the eyes as it would really sting and make sure to rince it off completly. This wont repell new fleas though I use front line myself but bio spot or other over the counter drops work for a few times till the fleas get resitence to them .
