Setting your course!

A very wise man gave me some advice one day. I was having difficulties with one of my publishers and he told me to set my course and do what I needed to do. He said, don't worry about what others weren't doing because you that is a situation you can't control. Just forge ahead according to what you plan and everything else would fall into place. I had been fighting about some things that I definately wanted in my book. After I talked to the wise man, I called my publisher and fired them, told them I would sue and it was their decision what the end result would be for them. Boy did their tune change and everything go back on track. Do you set your course and not let what others are doing effect your end results?

It is very hard not to let others effect what you have set out to do...sometimes I just let them have their way and usually everything turns out alright. If they push too hard and take advantage of me too many times...I do what you did. I blow my cool and if they really think I am serious about my goal usually things turn out OK. Otherwise, I turn around and walk away and never look back.
