Keepsakes

When I was a little girl I was very close to my grandfather on my mother's side. He was a simple man who loved his family and nature. The last Christmas he was alive he gave me a very special gift....a charm braclet with one charm that was shaped like a heart, that had my name engraved on it and a cut out area with a ruby heart...my birthstone in that area. That was over 45 years ago and I still have the bracelet. Do you have a keepsake that you will hang on to the rest of your life that was given by someone who will always live in your heart?

My grandmother on my mother's side was very, very poor. She barely made ends meet, and even then it took help from my mother and her siblings as they became old enough. One day my grandmother gave me a little gold cross that she had for years. I cherish that little gold cross.
