Why can't we support our troops?

http://www.torontosun.com/News/TorontoAndGTA/2007/06/19/4272222-sun.html Here is a story I saw in todays paper. Our city vehicles were ordered to take off their "support our troops" decal. I don't understand it. Should they have taken them off? I can't see any good reason for it.

I think that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, especially since they were allowed to have the support our troops decal placed in the first place--I don't agree with the war either, so you might say I'm anti-war, but I still support the men and women who are risking their lives there..after all many didn't choose to be there in the first place

Too many people equate supporting the troops now with supporting the mission they are on. People who use the Vietnam analogy for Afghanistan and Iraq are starting to make that a self-fulfilling prophecy. The next step will be the same homecomings the vietnam vets got, of apathy to their injuries, of derision from those with an anti-war bent, and to be forgotten by political opportunists.

Yes, I agree, they don't seem to make the distinction.

Shirley Ho should be ashamed to show her face around decent people. When the troops do come home, she'll probably be mugging for cameras and smiling with troops lying about how she cares.

No doubt. If she gets enough flack about this (and I hope she does) she'll change her mind.
