Took my newborn in for her 1 month appointmet today only to find that after moving hell and highwater to get there, they did not have her on the schedule. Had my appt card, and yep, her appointment was today. Our pediatrician is awesome. I used to work for him, and when he decided to open his own practice, I did not hesitate to follow him. His office staff leaves much to be desired. Recently they also lost some important documents my tween needed for school. I am about ready to take the girls to see another pediatrician, one with a staff that knows how to at least take care of the basics! Speaking of incompetence (yes, on a roll now!), why is it so difficult to order something from a fast food place and actually get what you ordered? Is it so hard to get a HAMBURGER, instead of a cheeseburger? Regardless of your profession, why is it that people just do not even attempt to do a good job anymore?????????

I am sorry, it sounds like you had a really bad day. Back to your question - Why the incompetencies that we see every day 1) The employers don't pay enough to keep quality people 2) People don't care 3) Our school systems suck and the employees are nearly illiterate 4) People are overworked and don't have time to do their job properly 5) Even the best people make mistakes sometime

Honestly I think it has alot to do with the fact that minumum wage, which is what alot of these people are making, is just not enough to get by with today's cost of living and after sturggleing for however long to make ends meet even working 40+ hours a week people start to gain resentment for thier jobs and only want to put out as much effort as they feel they are being paid for. If employers paid a little better than I think they might get a little more from thier employees, people tend to work harder when they feel they are actually getting something for thier work.

Ok, so I can accept that explaination from the fast food workers, but having worked for this doctor, I know his staff is being paid very well. Sigh....just one of those days!

I don't think that the wages have any thing to do with it. People used to take pride in what they do. Theyuy were taught that by their parents and the schools but that is no longer taught by amuch of any one. Not all people are like that and this dosen't applay to all parents but it happens.

Your asking why is it that people just do not even attempt to do a good job anymore????????? A lot of the kids that are getting into the work force and this is not just young kids ether. do not want to work. They want a paycheck but are not taught how to do a good job. Take McDonalds. My granddaughter worked for one of them. They cotinually allowed her to be late. We did not allow her to be late when she was growing up. luckly she did learn to do a good job at what ever she was doing and took pride in her work in spite of them. she is now working at a very prestegious grocery store.

That is a very good question. I've been asking that question for most of my life. Why can't people just do their jobs correctly? What's worse is when you encounter half a dozen of these slackers in one day, nd everything you need done goes wrong. First the dictor, then the bank, then the hamburger, then the phone company, then the hydro people shut you off because they lost your payment....ever have a day like that?

This happens all the time and I believe the biggest reason for it is because others are just not happy where they are working and are only there to get a pay check every week regardless of how they do the job . It can be so hard for managers to find individuals who actually care about what they are doing and therefore making it hard for them to find staff that will do a good job .

Awesome question there momsunited. I have been asking myself the same question for years. Its almost like people just don't want to put in even a minimum effort to do their job much less a little extra effort to do it well. There are people that go above and beyond the call of duty for their job but many do not. I remember being preggers in the Summer of 2005 and just WANTED Taco Bell so badly LOL So we get there and order for my husband, myself and the 3 kids and as we are checking out the order from drive thru we find its not all there. So hubby goes in with the oldest (who was 12 at the time) to get the order corrected. Well its not 3 minutes til the oldest comes out and says dad is gonna explode and he explained thta the lady at the window was ARGUING with him that she packed the order herself and KNEW it was all there---so in goes prego momma with bags in hand. The woman sees me (and she is not management) and you could just SEE the red in her face. I calmly explained that the order was not complete and that I wanted it rectified. Well then she starts YELLING at me...I told her quite frankly that it was obvious that she wasn't comptetant enough to pack an order much less deal with a customer. She YELLED even more (where the heck was management?????), so I raised my voice a bit and told her that I was not leaving til my order was corrected and by this time, the whole resteraunt was staring at me and her (ok maybe more her than me). She actualy ACCUSED me of EATING what was missing (oh yes I can eat 3 soft tacos, a fiesta potato and seasoned rice in less than 3 minutes). I told her that was impossible--that I was pregnant, not a hog. I again asked for my order to be corrected. She then starts getting beligerent and FINALLY I see a manager poke her head around the corner and ask shyly, 'Is there a problem here?' So the lady that waited on us started YELLING at her mgr and the mgr said politely and quietly that she was asking ME what the problem was, not her. It did get rectified but good grief...all that over a mistake. Whatever happened to the customer is always right and do what makes the customer happy because they pay your paycheck? I have dealt with incompetant doctors offices and hospitals for several years now. However, my family doctor is GREAT and the office staff is WONDERFUL. If I were you, I would bring this staff problem to the attention of the office mgr first and then if that gets you no where, then go to the doctor himself/herself and explain your delimia. Often times, the doctor doesn't know as much of the inner office workings and would be pleased that you had brought the problem to his attention. Good luck. Great topic BTW

AH! That just sounds horrible. Well I would leave a comment to your doctor friend on how is staff I guess doesn't take care of their customers.
