How Far Ahead Do You Plan?

Are you someone who has everything planned out? Do you like to know what you are doing next month, next year even? How far ahead do you make plans, or do you prefer to take each day as it comes? Have you started thinking about Christmas, have you got plans for what you are doing for Christmas yet? Or is far too early Are you a daily planner? Some people have their planners right up till 2010 and beyond! I have special dates which I look forward to, like my 10 day holiday to my retreat in August which is only 6 weeks time... Do you like to know what you are doing well ahead and do you plan for the future in this way?

Wow where are you going Wolfie in August? My life is a bit manic at the moment and not really my own. I want to make plans like a proper wedding and real honeymoon with my Beloved next year and get him to England.Lets se if immigration will be kind to me. But at the moment I am not really in a frame of mind to make plans.I do hope when I get the golden ticket from the tree and revolving travel I can start really planning. Royce told me today that it will take around three to four months to cycle and get the 6 grand in revolving travel. As both me and my beloved are in it I am hoping that will pay for our wedding, honeymoon and the ticket for a deposit on a house. Isn't that a good plan Wolfie?

Sounds like an excellent plan to me my friend and I'm glad to be a part of it too, I can't thank you enough. In August I'm going to my retreat by the sea with my friends x

I am a planner, but I don't plan several months in advance, I will plan when our vacation is or what we have planned for the weekend only so I can be prepared for what I need to have with me or to wear for such occasions, other than that I try not to plan, but I always find myself asking my boyfriend what are we doing next, he is so not a planner that he usually ignores my planning efforts.

Wolfie dear .. I hardly ever know what I am going to do tomorrow .. let alone in a few weeks time .. sigh ... I used to be ultra organised .. had every Birthday and key calendar event memorised .. I knew exactly how many hours work I needed to do to earn enough for my next holiday .. and worse still I knew just how many hours I had to work before my holiday would come round ... Then ... then this dreadful Fibromyalgia Syndrome started .. I believe it started after a car crash when I had whiplash .. now I can't hardly remember what day it is .. what month .. sometimes I forget from morning to afternoon what day I am in .. I know I should try and think ahead .. but when you are thinking with a brain full of what feels like cotton wool .. it's very hard to organise yourself .. I've tried writing myself notes .. making day planners etc .. but they only work if you remember to look at them .. sadly I rarely remember to do that until the day is almost over .. I suppose what I need is a PA .. someone to tell me what day it is .. when to make phone calls .. how to go about my daily life ..

I may try to plan Wolfie but you know what - it never works! lol I have a white board in my kitchen that I use to remind me of things I have to do - it even works but only when I remember to look at it! I have not started planning for Christmas yet - I haven't even started planning for the kids birthdays in August! I haven't even thought about packing for our holiday on Saturday , better go do it.................................................................................. ...........................................................................................................

No, no, no,no, and no. I can't hardly remember what happen yesterday and do not want to know what is going to happen tomorrow,, otherwise next year. It is irritating enough just to have to contend with what is going on in the present.

I plan quite forward. Although year wise is rather loose and made up more as I move forward. Certain things are planned and probably won't change as they're goals my wife and I would like to keep and are to do. I would love to get my own place.... (biggest plan which might have to wait a few years) ~Joey

Because of my own experiences with depression and anxiety caused by loss, I was completely incapable of planning beyond one day at a time up to about September last year, then I just booked a short notice holiday, my first in over 5 years, and from there I have slowly been regaining my ability to plan for the medium term, by which I mean a few weeks or months ahead. It's hard sometimes, and I do still retreat into taking each day as it comes, but just having the ability to plan into the future a little bit is something I am now very proud of.

funny, i am both a planner and a non planner... i have christmas presents stashed away already for my kids and extended family and hubby and i always make some sort of wood thing for christmas, so we are thinking of that... but on a daily basis, we are very much spur of the moment...sure we have events that we need to go to but our down times, well we handle em as they come!

Ah, wolfie. This is a discussion that I dreaded. You see, I used to keep planning even went as far as thinking what will I be 10 years from now. But everything went down the drain. There's always people around me who keeps blocking my way. Presently, I try to take everything in stride. I can plan ahead for 2 days but not 2, 3 or 10 years anymore. It works better for me so I won't end up feeling disappointed again.

Mate, I just don't know what i'm doing from one minute to the next! I never plan anything, i'm so disorganised it's amazing even to me! Hubby always takes the pi$$ out of me for it, but then he's one of those people that makes endless lists of things to do and never does any of them! Wow, a retreat sounds great! I think i need to go on one of those too to get my head together! Have a great time when you go on yours, i'm getting jealous! LOL

Hi wolfie. Yes – I’m a bit of a planner. We’ve already got our holidays planned for October this year, and also for May next year. I guess because we’re both working things have to be planned enough in advance to co-ordinate our annual leave, and also arrange cover in our offices, and, most importantly, care for our cat family when we’re away. I admit I’m not too spontaneous – I tend to get quite irritable if things go wrong at the last minute, and plans go awry. Have fun at your retreat by the way – I know how much you enjoy it there:-))

I have read from stephen covey to "begin with the end in mind", so I had a plan 10 or even 20 years from now. From that plan I itemize my yearly goals that needs to be done, changes to be made. From the yearly plan, I segregate it into quarterly or monthly. I just choose a few major goals that needs to be done in 1 month or 1 quarter. I do these every after new year, or after christmas time. Then after that, I just do my weekly priorities, setting aside 2-3 goals a day, or "under-achieving" myself so it won't be frustrating if I don't get it accomplished. Of course, everything is adjustable but as much as possible, I try to stick to the plan, but there are times when certain situations happen that can't be avoided so I accept it, then move-on and make adjustments.

I do not plan very far ahead. I do have my priorities set out. But i do not realy like planning things for the far future. I know that everything can change, and i just plan it a week by week.

I try to plan ahead, but it usually falls through. So I guess it's each day as it comes...
