Judge Judy and other court shows

Does anyone here watch those court TV shows like Judge Judy, The People's Court and Judge Joe Brown? I do quite often and find them so interesting at times. It never amazes me how silly people will be with their money and credit. "Oh, yeah, I gave him my credit card to use and got him a cell phone in my name, but we were dating a whole month." Sheesh.

I sometimes watch judge Judy and I am amazed too at what some people go on there about. Some of them, you would think they could just sort it out on their own.

I read an article once and the guy said they told him to plead not guilty to make it more interesting and that a lot of it was sort of staged or creatively edited. He said he knew he owed the money, he just didn't have it, but they wanted to make it seem like he was avoiding the obvious and get them into a heated debate of sorts. He didn't care, but it wasn't real.

It makes you wonder how many of these are staged like that then. Sometimes when I have watched the show, I have said to my husband that surely this can't be real. Thats really interesting to know, thanks!

My husband watches them all the time. He works shift work so he is able to watch Judge Joe Brown and Judge Alex during the day. Sometimes he rushes away from the dinner table to catch Judge Judy. She's his favourite. I know the shows can be funny sometimes but not worth dropping everything for. He likes them so much we got him a game for Father's Day called "You Be The Judge" based on the court TV shows. Players are supposed to guess what the judge's verdict was in each case. We haven't played it yet because DH has been so ill. Hopefully on the weekend we'll find some time.
I don't mind watching them if I have nothing better to do but I can always pass on them too.

I love Judge Judy. I'm really not too crazy about the other shows. Judge Judy is blunt and right to the point. I loved it when her husband was the judge on People's Court. He seems the opposite of Judy, but was still firm in his rulings. And yes, some of those cases seem unreal! I watched Judge Judy today where the dad was suing his daughter and her boyfriend for an outstanding loan, and the daughter seemed like she didn't owe dad a dime, even though he helped her out so many times!
