As an adult do you ever read kids books?

Do you ever read books that aren't specifically written for your age group? I love picking up kids books every now and again and loosing myself in the fantasy within the pages. I don't have kids to read to, but I still enjoy reading kids books.... What about you guys...do you still enjoy kids books as adults?

I do mainly because I am working at being a children's author. Kids books and magazines are a good resource for me. I am also a preschool teacher and I read kid's books to get a feel of what my class might like. I like to read them every now and then just because so many of them are honestly good books.

oh script,i just love children's books. i fight with my neice to read her books first and she would not just let it happen. we have great fun reading through them together. the sweetness and simplicity of the books is addictive. smiles... PS: what a coincidence, i just started a discussion with just the opposite thought!!

I read kids books all the time. They are great. Sometimes the books are better than the adult books. I love the Dealing with DRagons series by PAtrcia C. Wrede, Eragon, Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Christopher Pike Books, RL Stine Fear Street books, and LJ Smith books a lot.

Very much so, I enjoyed Harry P as much as my 12 year old did. Not long ago I read Alice in wonderland to my grand daughter over the course of a couple of weeks at bedtime. I found myself taking the book to bed and reading ahead because I just loved the story myself. Another one we read over the winter together was Charlottes Webb, and that was probably my 20th reading of that one. She is a little young yet for the Potter series but I can not wait.

Yes why not? I love kids' world, with all the fantasies and hopes. I love to be in their world once in awhile to get the positive perspective in my life out again! I am not sure if you classify Harry Potter as kid's books but I enjoy the magical power described there and also I recently read and watch The Chocolate Factory, it's just so fun. Besides reading children's books, I watch a lot of cartoons too! I think there are way more positive messages in those. Have fun!

I read kid's books for a purpose: I read children's books in Spanish to help me gain more proficiency in the language. It's working rather well, actually, because there are always pictures and repetition to help lean new words, and its a lot of fun to find the meaning of new Spanish words without consulting any English-language source, just using context. Doing that is great, because I can learn to associate the Spanish words to real objects, or other Spanish words, rather than learning to associate them with their English translations.

Yes, I love to read kids books. In fact, I collect kids books. I especially love horse books but I also like books with wonderful illustrations so I pick up anything that appeals to me. I usually get them at thrift stores and used bookstores, sometimes ebay. I like to read adult books too, of course but kids books can be quite enjoyable and even fun to read. I have read all the Harry Potter's but also so many more kids books besides those. As one other person posted, I also like cartoons. I watch them with the kids but my favorite cartoons are Lilo & Stitch; Kim Possible and Scooby Doo. The kids don't like my favorites as much as I do unfortunately.

I still love Nancy Drew even though she is considered "young adult". I used to read R.LStein's "Goosebumps" series and that was for preteens. Reading them always brings back memories

I love reading childrens books, but i'm only in my early twenties so don't class myself as an adult just yet!! LOL I like young adult / teenage type books, especially the fantasy ones like harry potter, northern lights etc. They are so much fun and set in very magical and exciting places. Most adult books are full of too many adulty type problems and not nearly as much fun.

Absolutley. Whilst I'm only 22, so it's not exactly miles out of my age group, my favorite age range to read tends to be 11-15 year olds stuff. Other than the obvious ones like Harry Potter, Shadowmancer etc, I have also really enjoyed The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stoud, The Demonata series by Darren Shan, and the Spooks series by Joseph DeLaney. I have no plans to stop reading these books, they are a lot easier going, and less heavy handed than a lot of more adult books, so I find them (on the whole) more enjoyable.

I'm not sure if it to make up for lost time since I was reading adult books before I was out of elementary school but quite often I'll read YA books. If a book is good I don't care if it is for adults or kids. Also some authors write both so odds are I'll enjoy both.
